********** MPAA-UNCUT **********

MPAA:

THE ADVENTURES OF FORD FARLAINE/Ford Farlaine - Rokkidekkari/FI/K16/MPAA cuts. The first (and probably the last) starring vechicle for "The Clayman", Andrew Dice Clay. Oddly, this movie has gathered a somewhat cult following over the years. Clay's most sexually gross-out humour was forced out by the MPAA for the movie to get its R-rating. The MPAA pre-cut version was distributed all over the globe. All the Finnish versions, the cinema-version, the videoversion, and the widescreen dvd are identical to the R-rated cut.

AMERICAN PIE/FI/K12/MPAA cuts. The Finnish cinema- and videoversions are indentical to the R-rated version, with cuts by the MPAA. The Finnish dvd-version is the full uncut, unrated version (and even on matted anamorphic widescreen). The cuts (that are approx. 10 seconds) are: a sight of sperm on a beer can has been replaced with a shot with the sperm hardly visible, explicit pages from The Book of Sex, there's more of girl moaning when the boy gives her the tongue bang, Nadia masturbating on the bed is longer, the famous "pie" scene is now being done on top of the table (the R has it replaced with it made standing), and Man chowder is used instead of Pale ale.

ARSENIC AND OLD LACE/Arsenikkia Ja Vanhoja Pitsejä/FI/K16. This 1944 (actually made in 1941) ok movie by Frank Capra was cut by the pre-MPAA censor The Hayes Office to remove one of Mortimer's (Gary Grant) final lines (which is intact in the original play); Elaine! Did you hear! Do you understand? I'm a bastard!.

BARB WIRE/FIc/K16/MPAA cuts. The lousy Pam Anderson-vehicle. The Finnish cinema-version was identical to the R-rated version, but the Finnish videoversion is the full uncut, unrated version of the movie! The R-rated version has lost some sexuality, and the opening-credits (the best scene in this otherwise shit movie) where naked Pam Anderson is hosed with water, while she's dancing, has been trimmed.

BLACK AND WHITE/FI/K16/MPAA cuts? I'm not all sure that is the version released on tape and dvd in Finland is the R-rated version cut by the MP double A. The scene cut is the three-way love scene in the beginning (set in the park). The R-rated version has several shots of a girl's naked ass deleted, the two girls kissing is reduced (!), and the girl rubbing the other girl's nipple has been reduced. The uncut version is at least shown in TV1000.

BLADE RUNNER/FIx/MPAA cuts. This classic (even though I personally have never thought it's anything special) was cut to archieve an R-rating as follows: *Batty killing Tyrell by pushing his tumbs on his eyes is reduced from the bleeding. *Pris picking Deckard up from his nostrils while beating him up, is removed. *Deckard shooting Pris eliminates the third shot, and some kicking and screaming from Pris. *Roy pushing the nail through his hand is shown. The FIx tape is the R-rated version with no additional cuts. NOTE: At least The Criterion Collection widescreen laserdisc (now naturally out-of-print) is the uncut unrated version. 'The Director's Cut' of the movie was released in 1992, and makes several alterations, removing all of Deckard's voice-overs, showing a sight of a unicorn while Deckard plays a piano, and deleting the "happy" ending (which was originally forced into the final cut by studio executives, the footage being an outtake from Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining"!) - unfortunately, because the 'Director's Cut' received a wide release in the US, the studio thought it had to have an R-rating, thus none of the censored footage was restored - and of course the Finnish video- and (widescreen) dvd release (rated K16) of 'The Director's Cut' were identical to the R-rated version. There's some rumors of a dvd coming out which would restore the censored footage into 'The Director's Cut', and would also be a bit digitally fixed for removing some of the goofs in the movie.

BRAVEHEART/Braveheart - Taipumaton/FI/K16/MPAA cuts. Well, "cut", and cut. The film was originally pre-cut, because the MPAA threatened it with an NC-17 rating. Gore and continous bleeding was toned down from the medieval warefare battling. But the R-version had no problem passing uncut with a K16-rating, even though it has incredible gore still intact (and lots!). Because you can't get the fully uncut version from anywhere at this time, some count this version as the fully "uncut" one. Even this version is so gory, that if you could positively could say this is the true uncut version, then it should be promoted to the "Uncut" section of ATTIC! NOTE: The Finnish cinema- and videoversions are identical to the R-rated version, but the Finnish dvd unfortunately is the same as the UK disc, so it features a few seconds of BBFC cuts.

CASINO/FI/K16/cut 1 min (+ MPAA cuts). The torture scene was slightly trimmed by the MPAA (Tony Dog's eye-ball popping out was cut) to avoid an NC-17 rating. To archieve an K16-rating in Finland, the censor did an additional one minute of cuts.

CHERRY FALLS/Neisytjahti/FI/K15/MPAA cuts. The Finnish video / dvd is identical to the American version, which was trimmed five times for the MPAA to archieve an R-rating. There was some talk of the full uncut versiuon being broadcast on US cable channel HBO, but I've heard no further info on this. The cuts include: 1.Annette's death was heavily altered to avoid graphic gory violence. 2.Rod's death is less bloody. 3.Timmy's death was originally on-screen, with lots of bloodletting. 4.A man's bloody throat-slit in the orgy was deleted. 5.The orgy scene was cut for some explicit sexuality.

DEAD PRESIDENTS/FI/K16/MPAA cuts. For long time ATTIC listed this as fully uncut, but it turns the Finnish version of this Hughes brothers movie is the same as the US version (which was released in Finland with a K16-rating, without any VET or distributor cuts), which was censored to avoid an NC-17 rating as follows: *Chris Tucker shooting the cop has the cop's brain bleeding out from his skull and him falling into the ground shortened (substituted with a close-up of Tucker), and when he's lying on the ground, Tucker shooting him repeatedly has lost a single shot. * Larenz Tate bashing the guard with a broken nose with his gun is shown in a more tame angle in the R-rated edit. *A shot cop bleeding from this throat in the car has been shortened by few frames. The censorings total approximately 5 seconds. From what I understand, the fully uncut version has never been released, and even The Criterion Collection US laserdisc only contains the censored footage in rough-cut form as extras. Even the R-rated version in itself is stunningly graphic, just check out those head-butts!!!

DESPERADO/FI/K16/cut 38 sec (+ MPAA cuts). In Finland, the R-rated version was released on cinema with a K18-rating, and with no additional cuts. The Finnish videoversion with a K16-rating is the R-rated version with 38 seconds worth of additional cuts. Originally, the director Robert Rodriguez himself trimmed the film, when a threat of an NC-17 rating was received from the dear old MPAA. The shooting of the Pick-up Guy's friend was trimmed, the Pick-up Guy's head being blown off was reduced, and also the shooting of Danny Trejo was shortened. Also, the final gun-battle was almost completely removed, because the cuts that the MPAA demanded, would have ruined the entire sequence. El Mariachi shooting the "groin gun" in the bar was also deleted, as was the "groin gun" accidentally being triggered, when El Mariachi, and Carolina are playing in bed, but these were not cut by the MPAA, but the director cut them out on purpose.

DIE HARD 2/Vain Kuolleen Ruumiini Yli 2/FI/K16/MPAA cuts. The MPAA cuts for an R-rating include: a head-shot originally was originally more explicit, the first thug that McLane shoots after he has gone out from the ventilation originally included more bullet hits, and the "icicle" scene was trimmed a few frames from the stab, and from the "victim's" bodyshot. Strangely, this movie went through VET with an K16-rating as the R-rated version with not a single additional cut, probably due to "Finnish" director Renny Harlin, which causes a great audience appeal. NOTE: The Swedish videoversion has extensive hacking. A bootleg version (with the MPAA cuts intact) was available at least from Cyprus some years ago.

DREAM LOVER/Unelmien Rakastajatar/FI/K16/MPAA cuts. 1994 starring James Spader and Mädchen Amick. Several minutes of sexual footage was removed to ensure an 'R' rating. This version went to Finnish video release. NOTE: The complete unrated version is available in the US.

DRESSED TO KILL/Tappava Tunnustus/FIx/MPAA cuts. Brian De Palma's overpraised visually delightful thriller was released as a FIx-version, that is the R-rated version with no additional cuts by the distributor. The cuts to avoid an 'X' rating, are as follows: 1.The famous shower-scene has Kate (Angie Dickinson... or rather her body double) caressing her pubic area were replaced with shots of Kate caressing her stomach, and her breast. 2.The rape of Kate has been slightly trimmed. 3.The brutal death of Kate in the elevator has been softened by using alternative takes (thus eliminating two extremely graphic bloody close-ups). 4.Dialogue was altered from a conversation between Liz (Nancy Allen), and Dr Elliot (Michael Caine); Liz's line All the time he's talking I can see the bulge in his pants is completely removed, and another Liz's line He drops his pants, spreads my legs, kneels down behind me, is changed to He drops his pants, he forces me down on my stomach, kneels down behind me. Even another Liz's line Well, because of the size of that cock in your pants has the word cock replaced to bulge in the R-rated cut. NOTE: The FI tape released by Future Film is the same R-rated cut, and rated K15. The British cert.18-videoversion is the same as the R-rated version, and with no additional cuts. The US dvd is on 2.35:1 widescreen (anamorphic), and features both the R- and the unrated versions, and some nice extras. The Australian and UK dvds for some reason only contain the R-rated cut.

EVENT HORIZON/Viimeinen Horisontti/FI/K16/MPAA cuts. The R-rated version of this "some like, some don't" sci-fi thriller was released worlwide, though it still features some pretty gory scenes. This movie was extremely heavily cut for an R-rating (over 10 minutes were cut from the gory content!). First VET gave an K18-rating to this (it went straight on video), but the distributor did an appeal, that somehow went through, and this was released with a K16-rating, as the R-rated version with no additional cuts. NOTE: There has been some rumors of the complete unrated version being released on dvd in the future (fingers crossed, even though I thought that at least the R-rated version was pretty crappy). There's also some reports of something extra being included on the Japanese version.

THE FAST & THE FURIOUS/FI/K12/MPAA cuts. This dumb very-by-the-numbers flick originally had the scene where Vin Diesel hijacks the truck trimmed to secure a 'PG-13' rating. The cuts were to the guy being ripped in the hand with the truck wiring. The editing of this scene from the original R-rated form to the PG-13-rated form is shown on the movie's dvd.

FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH/Kuumat Kinkut/K16/MPAA cuts. After MPAA's demand for cuts to the boathouse sex scene (mainly for all shots showing a dick), this "landmark" teen-comedy-drama got an richly-deserved R rating. Congrats, you fucks.

FEAR CITY/Armoton Kaupunki/FI/K18/MPAA cuts. The widescreen dvd-version released in Finland by Future Film is unfortunately the same as the US version, which was chopped for an R-rating. The striptease scenes are shortened, the murder of Rae Dawn Chong is trimmed, and Billy Dee Williams' line Get him outta here! is changed to Maybe you are, take him home. NOTE: The FIx tape (also titled "Armoton Kaupunki") is cut by the distributor (though I don't know is it based on the uncut unrated version or the R-rated cut). The US Network TV version of the movie (!) was distributed in the UK, and it was cut by 1 minute and 10 seconds by the BBFC even further - so the UK version (certified '18') is cut approximately 7 minutes, and padded out with about 6 minutes of milder substitutions: *All the strip club scenes are shortened. *All murders are reduced, especially that of Rae Dawn Chong. *The killer practicing on his nunchucks is deleted (a BBFC cut). *The killer attacking a woman in the park with nunchucks is deleted (by the BBFC also). *Language reduced through-out, e.g. Michael Gazzo's Shit, I'd give my only nut becomes Shoot, I'd give my only son. *Billy Dee Williams' line is the same as in the R-rated version. The Dutch video is completely uncut and uncensored.

FRANKENSTEIN/FI/K16. This 1931 actually isn't as a fantastic film, as all critics have howled it to be (to my own opinion, it's a disgrace to Mary Shelley's great original novel!), especially in its widely spread cut version, which is identical to the Finnish videoversion. Before its original premiere, a scene where the Frankenstein monster accidentally drowns a little girl, was cut out (this however wasn't originally a censor cut, but was trimmed in appeal of star Boris Karloff who wanted the Frankenstein monster to put the girl on the water, and not throw, like director James Whale made him do). Though if they hadn't pre-cut it, there's little doubt that the censors would've left it intact... When the film was re-released in 1937, these further cuts were made by the pre-MPAA censor The Hayes Office: *Removal of Dr Frankenstein's line In the name of God, now I know what it feels like to be God. *The scene where Fritz The Hunchback is tormenting the Frankenstein monster with a torch is shortened. *A close-up of a needle being stabbed in the Frankenstein monster's back is deleted. NOTE: The 1987 re-release finally brough the censored footage intact, though Dr Frankenstein's censored dialogue was still missing. The US dvd-version (R1) is the full uncut version, finally including also the dialogue cut intact. The Finnish dvd also features the full uncut version, with restored image and sound (the latter's quality is really brilliant).

FREEWAY/Rankka Pakomatka/FI/K16/MPAA cuts. The critically acclaimed movie starring Kiefer Sutherland and Reese Witherspoon was cut by the MPAA for some explicit sexual dialogue to get an R-rating in the US. At least the Finnish dvd-version released by Scanbox is this same cut version. Any info on the status of the Finnish videoversion is welcome... NOTE: The UK version (cert.18) is cut 7 seconds by the BBFC (it features the MPAA cuts intact): *The scene featuring the killer's porn collection, loses the 'Cock Sucking Toddlers' magazine cover. *Near the end of the movie, a cop sees the naked body of the dead granny, but this is removed. The Australian video is censored.

FRIDAY THE 13th PART 2/Perjantai 13. Päivä 2/FI/K18/MPAA cuts. The Finnish dvd-version (widescreen) is the US R-rated version (with none of additional cuts), which was cut by director Steve Miner after a demand from the MPAA was called in. 1.The decapitation from part 1 shown as a flashback has the decapitation once again trimmed for the blood-gushing from the cut throat. 2.Blood was cut from the death of Alice. 3.Crazy Ralph's death was briefly reduced from the wire-cut. 4.The scene where Jason hits a cop in the head with a hammer was cut to non-bloody. 5.Scott's throats-lit was toned down from the bloodflow. 6.Graphic close-up on Mark's machete-hit face is cut out. 7.The scene where Jason impales the love-making couple with a spear was originally longer; it showed the spear actually being stabbed in the boy's back, while the girl screamed.

THE GODFATHER PART 3/Kummisetä 3/FI/K16/MPAA cuts. Prior to this crappy sequel's release, the MPAA demanded that the death of Don Lucchesi had to be trimmed for the film to have an R rating instead of the dreaded NC-17. Originally, after Don Lucchesi is stabbed in his aorta with his glasses (!), a glorius spurt of blood would have resulted (while in the background his assassin would have been shot). NOTE: Even Coppola's "final director's cut" doesn't include this, because of the ratings. Director's Cut, my ass. Also the Finnish dvd-version (a part of "The Godfather DVD Collection") is identical to this, though in the "special features" disc feature documentary "The Godfather Family - A Look Inside", we can see this scene uncut from the behind-the-scenes point of view.

HARD TARGET/FI/K16/cut 5 min 47 sec (+ MPAA cuts)!!! Unbelievable! First this was brought to Finland identical to the R-rated version (which is about 3 minutes shorter than the uncut unrated version, and 15 minutes shorter than the rare rough time-coded workprint, which is sometimes referred to as the Director's Cut, which it is not; the R-rated and the unrated version actually contain a little bit of footage not intact in it!) with extreme cuts, then on video for an K16-rating (the cinema-version was rated K18) the distributor hacked additional cuts totalling 5 minutes 47 seconds!!! The movie originally was brought to the MPAA seven times (!), before it was "granted" an R-rating. Cuts for the R-rated version are as follows: 1.The hunt of Douglas Binder; lost Binder pulling an arrow out from his shoulder in slow-motion. 2.The hunt of Douglas Binder; Binder killing a biker with a gasoline can. 3.The hunt of Douglas Binder; in the R-rated cut, a small hut is just blown up. In the uncut one, Binder gets wounded with burns from the blast. 4.The hunt of Douglas Binder; Binder getting shot to his ass with an arrow; Binder's body is also shown floating in the water longer. 5.Chance shooting the Hawaian shirt hunter (who's reflected from the unconscious biker's helmet), has been reduced from about 30 bullet hits to just 12! 6.Chance shooting the unconscious biker waking up, is no more (along with the line Uh, give it a rest, pal). 7.Right after cut 6, a biker appears, and Chance (of course) shoots him. This is all cut out. 8.A close-up shot of a hunter with an arrow in his throat has been deleted. 9.Natasha shooting a hunter (a reminscent of Woo's HK masterpiece "Hard-Boiled") has been reduced from a few bullet hits. 10.Chance (now playing Tarzan with the rope) shooting a cowboy hunter is reduced, cutting away bullets blowing out from his back. 11.Chance shooting a hunter dressed in black is cut for numerous bullet hits.12. Lopaki is shot 4 times, then kicked in the head, and then shot again, now 5 times. In the R-rated cut, he's just kicked in the head, and shot just 2 times! 13.Uncle Douvee getting shot has been reduced (originally the bullet impacting on his leg was shown in a close-up). 14.Chance gunning down a hunter with glasses has lost a few close-ups. 15.Chance shooting the biker on top of the stairs is trimmed. 16.After the small chat between Chance and Van Cleaf, Chance shooting the moustached hunter with the grenade, has been very heavily cut. In the uncut version, he shoots him about 20 times extremely graphically, when in the R-rated cut, he's just shot a few none-so-graphic times! 17.After Chance kicks a thug in the throat, the thug getting shot is heavily reduced from about ten bullet hits to just two! 18.Chance shooting Van Cleaf, has lost all the more graphic bullet hits. 19.Van Cleaf's agony, while he's trying to get his hands on the grenade, is considerably longer in the uncut version. 20.Chance shotgunning the hunter he clubbed with the grenade, has been reduced. 21.Fouchon getting shot in the shoulder has been cut for a bloody close-up of the pellets impacting. 22.Uncle Douvee getting stabbed with the arrow by Fouchon has the stabbing intact, but the subsequent punch from Fouchon has been deleted. 23.Chance high kicking Fouchon in slow-motion has the shot of Fouchon graphically spitting blood, cut out. 24.Fouchon hitting Chance with a burning piece of wood for the first time is censored - the hit is now off-screen. That's it. The bootleg workprint has additional violent content as follows - *The hunt of Douglas Binder; Binder getting shot in his stomach with a machine gun is shown. *The infamous "ear" scene is shown on-screen, with blood spraying from the ear, and the ear stub being cut off. *Fouchon punching Poe has some blood splattering. *The hunt of Elijah; Elijah shoots Zanan about six more times. *The hunt of Elijah; After Elijah has dropped on the ground after the first hail of bullets, he gets up, and gets another hail of bullets, and then drops dead. *Carmine (Kasi Lemmons) has been shot a couple of more times pretty graphically with a machine gun. *Van Cleaf's get-away car's driver gets a few more bullet hits. *Chance killing the biker persuading them, is a little more graphic. *When Chance plays a game of "chicken" with a X4X (the famous scene in the bridge), he shoots the driver a few more times in the workprint. *Before grabbing the rope, Chance shooting a random baddie. *During a firefight, Chance shoots the moustached hunter in the leg. According to director John Woo, these scenes were not edited in the MPAA censoring process, but prior to them submitted the film to them for the first time. Even additionally to the MPAA cuts, several pieces of dialogue, and scenes were cut out in courtesy of critique from the preview audiences, and Universal executives. Like in the workprint, the villains are depicted as very smart, dangerous, and professional. Also a "love" scene between Chance, and Natasha was cut out, because the preview audience was disappointed of how mild it was (no nudity was required here). Also the scene of Fouchon playing a piano was originally intercut with extremely graphic footage of animals being hunted, and needless to say, the scene is about ten times better in the workprint form. Also a mildly violent action scene was trimmed, this appears right after the "Grab the bar" scene, and features Chance playing "chicken" with a Sedan, and shooting the driver to pieces. Unfortunately, a scene of Uncle Douvee, and Chance singing some French bullshit song is included in the workprint. This scene is pointless, and fuckin' awful, in the most embarrassing way. Also, the finale was severely changed; originally, Fouchon talked a lot more of his hunting experiences, and Chance saying the one-liner Hunting season is over! was cut out, and the annoying Whoops from Fouchon is replaced with an "Oh shit" expression in the workprint. The Finnish dvd-version (rated K18, widescreen) is the uncut version (same as the UK vhs, which was promoted as "Uncensored"), with all of the MPAA cuts intact. And adding to this, the Finnish dvd actually has some non-violent footage which is in the workprint. This version still has the one-liner ending, but it at least has Fouchon talking about his hunting experiences in the finale, while Van Dummy's face in this scene is replaced with haunting images of the Mardi Gras graveyard (as in the workprint), and Natasha also screams a little more in the finale when Fouchon has the arrow on her. Maybe you can name the workprint as to the closest one of Woo's vision (even though it definitely is not a Director's Cut), because the released version (the R-rated, as the uncut one) was edited together by Universal executives. Pretty messy, huh?

JAWS: THE REVENGE/Tappajahain Kosto/FI/K16. Not cut by VET, or the distributor, but this is the US theatrical version, which has lost over a minute from the final extremely gory death of the shark (making the shark in the soft version because of the cuts, with no appear reason, to explode!). Also a happy ending of Mario Van Beebles surviving of the shark treatment, is included. NOTE: The US dvd-version (region 1) is the full gory version minus the happy ending. The British cert.12-videoversion is cut 37 seconds (presumably this is the US theatrical version with additional BBFC cuts).

KILL BILL VOLUME 1/Kill Bill Osa 1/FI/K18/MPAA cuts. To avoid an NC-17 rating from the MPAA, director Tarantino at least made the following alterations: The animated sequence showing O-Ren Ishii's childhood deletes many bloody shots. The second half of The House Of Blue Leaves massacre is shown in black and white instead of color in order to tone down the "impact" of the bloodletting, which includes an eye-gouging, several severings of limbs, and blood gushing out from the stumps and wounds. Several violent moments are also added to this sequence (inlucding more shots of Sofie Fatale with her arm-stump), and the Bride's blink-and-it's-back-in-color E.C.U. is substituted with an another shot much further away. Also, when the Bride is torturing Sofie Fatale, while she's on the trunk, shows the Bride slicing her other arm off as well. A few other alterations are also included, but they were not made for censorship purposes (the silly Klingon opening text is replaced with a dedication to Kinji Fukasaku, a few shots in different camera-angles when the Bride visits the house of Vivica A. Fox's character). NOTE: The completely uncut/uncensored was released in Japan in theaters, video, and dvd (why the hell not in Europe, huh?!). The widescreen dvd from Thailand is also reported fully uncensored.

KILLING ZOE/FI/K18/MPAA cuts. The Finnish release of Roger Avary's debut was for some reason very much delayed (there was only a few festival showings), and this finally released widescreen dvd unfortunately contains the MPAA pre-cuts. The MPAA really butchered this film, and it was submitted several times before getting its R-rating. This version was distributed all over the globe, and the unrated director's cut was released for first time in the French special edition dvd (it was going to be released as an Artisan dvd in the US, but some copyright mumbo-jumbo prevented this). The cuts, which total to 2 minutes and 37 seconds in lenght are as follows: 1.A few minutes-long heroin-injection scene in the bathroom between Eric and his friend is completely eliminated. 2.Eric shoots at the hostages some seconds longer. 3.Eric threatening Zoe is longer, and a man intervening gets striken by Eric. 4.Eric threatens Zed longer with the knife, and a line of dialogue from Eric, where he says that he will fuck Zoe in the ass, and give her AIDS is also removed. 5.The fight between Eric and Zed is shortened. 6.The shooting of Eric is predictably chopped, removing several bullets impacting on Eric, and blood gushing out (many in close-ups), and considerably more blood sprays on Zoe. NOTE: The German versions rated 'FSK 16' (including the German dvd) have the MPAA cuts, plus cuts by the German censor.

KING KONG/FI/K16. This original 1933 classic is not cut by the MPAA (it didn't really exist back then), but after the film's first release, censor was really getting to Hollywood (it all ready had caused tremendous troubles with Howard Hawks' "Scarface"), so they trimmed some (totalling running time about a minute) of the more adult material out, and this cut version was hugely spreaded across the world, until the complete version was finally released in. The Finnish videoversion is the cut version (despite the video cover advertizing it as "original and uncut"), and the cuts are as follows: 1.The battle of King Kong vs the Dinosaur is a little more graphic. 2.King Kong peeling Ann's (Fay Wray) clothes off. 3.After Kong has gone through the gate, him squashing a few natives is no more. 4.Kong picking up and eating a native (one of those who are throwing spears at him from the native hut's roof). 5.In NYC, Kong picking a guy from the street, and munching him, is cut. 6.Kong pulling a woman from her bed room thinking that she's Ann, and when finding out he'd made a mistake, throwing her into the ground, has been completely deleted. Also shots of dead dinosaurs bleeding are darkened. NOTE: I've heard that the Finnish dvd-version is the uncut version. There's also one scene not present in any print, where giant lizards kill the saved-from-hazard sailors. This, however, was not a censor cut, but it was made because director Merian C. Shoeback thought it terrified the preview audiences too much, and took their concentration off from the rest of the movie.

LINDA LOVELACE FOR PRESIDENT/FIx/MPAA cuts. This version was pre-cut by the MPAA to archieve an R-rating. Cuts were to some rather light sexual content. NOTE: The British video certified '18' is passed uncut from the BBFC clutches.

LIVE WIRE/Kalman Johde/FI/K16/MPAA cuts. Strong actioner with Pierce Brosnan, which was released in Finland on video as the cut US version, which has a little over a minute worth of cuts to sex. No additional cuts were made by the Finnish distributor or VET. NOTE: The uncut unrated version is available in the US. The British cert.15-videoversion is cut 16 seconds.

MAD MAX 2: THE ROAD WARRIOR/Asfalttisoturi/FI/K16/MPAA cuts. The R-rated version has the following trimmings: 1.Vernon Wells graphically pulling an arrow out from his arm. 2.Wells trying to pull a boomerang out from dead pal's head is no more. Both of the Finnish versions (video / dvd) have the MPAA cuts. NOTE: The Finnish dvd-version contains extremely heavy cuts by the German censors (4 minutes and 40 seconds!!). The Finnish dvd-version re-issue is identical to the R-rated version. At least the UK videoversion (cert.18) released in the 80's (the re-release is the R-rated cut) contains the fully uncut version.

MATA HARI/FI/K12. This 1932 Greta Garbo movie was not censored when it was premiered, but in 1939 when it was re-released, the Hays Office had got into power, and heavy cuts were made. At least an entire scene set in a bedroom in the beginning of the film was removed. The Finnish video features this re-release version. The censored footage unfortunately has been lost, and presumed destroyed (check your attic, kids! No, not this one), and therefore no restoration has been made.

MENACE II SOCIETY/Väkivallan Kierre/FI/K16/MPAA cuts. Fuck! The Hughes Brothers' masterpiece was dragged as an R-rated version to Finland! An' believe me you me, the R rated version has incredible amount of cuts applied to the most mild shootings probably due to the film's "color": *Tat Lawson (Samuel L. Jackson) pumping rounds to his player buddy in the card table is briefly cut (one bullet hitting him upfront, and a single exit wound blasting from the player buddy's back are trimmed). *The burger-stand revenge shooting is trimmed (the wounded thug gets less shots on-screen from the 'G' dude). *Caine's (Tyrin Turner) death has lost a slo-mo shot of four bullets blasting to his chest. The cuts total to approx. 10 seconds. Some sources say that Sharif's death is also reduced, but this appears to be false. NOTE: The 18-rated UK versions have the MPAA cuts, but are also cut further 10 seconds by the BBFC; a scene where O-Dog (Larenz Tate) and Caine break into a car is deleted (this includes them inserting a thin metal piece in between of the car window and the lock, thus making it unlocked) - the cut footage is padded with a repeated shot of the security guard. The completely uncut unrated version is to my knowledge only available on the out-of-print Criterion widescreen laserdisc (release it on motherfuckin' dvd, NOW!).

MY BLOODY VALENTINE/Verinen Valentine/FI/K18/MPAA cuts. The 2003 Finnish widescreen dvd release is unfortunately the same old R-rated version, which was literally butchered by the MPAA to make "an example" after the John Lennon assassination. Moviehounds have drooled to see the full version of this for years, but Paramount seems to have no interest in restoring it, even though the film's producer has the negative for the complete version! The cuts are as follows: *The pre-credits sequence eliminates a woman being pushed backwards onto a pickaxe. *The sight of Mabel's mutilated body was reduced. *The death of the bartender is heavily edited that any sight of blood is not shown - he was originally pickaxed up his chin and out his left eye, and dragged along the ground. *The face-boiling of Dave is censored. *Sylvia's death was trimmed for head-on shots while she's impaled. *A bulk of the shot of Hollis' face bleeding is replaced with a shot of a miner's light. *Howard's hanging has lost him getting decapitated. *Axl removing his left arm is eliminated. Also a bulk of the film's explicit sound-fx were censored. NOTE: The version that played in UK theatres when the movie was put out, strangely at least contained the scene where Axl removes his left arm uncut (!), but the for now, the cut version is the fullest version available unfortunately - but at least there is some hope for a completely uncut release.

NATURAL BORN KILLERS/Syntyneet Tappajiksi/FI/K16/MPAA cuts. Excessively hacked to receive an R rating (over 150 cuts, which total to almost 3 minutes!), the Finnish videoversion rated K16 is the R-rated version with no additional cuts. The MPAA cuts are as follows: Mallory kicking the road runner graphically (plus a close-up of blood splashing on the table), a redneck's finger-severing is trimmed, Mickey slashing the redneck has been reduced, Mickey's knife-throwing has lost the man falling down with the knife sticking out from his back, Mallory bashing the road runner's head to the bar floor (plus kicking him and then shouting Fucker!), the death of Mallory's father is reduced, the graphic shot of Mickey raping a hostage is deleted, Scagnetti (excellent Tom Sizemore) killing a prostitute is extremely cut (missing several shots of Scagnetti strangling her, plus the entire strangulation of the prostitute in the uncensored version happens with the prostitute being bare-breasted, while in the R-rated version, alternative takes have been used that she wears a bra through the entire scene!), Mickey shooting the Drug Zone clerk has lost the blood-splattering, the beating of Mickey and Mallory is extremely heavily cut (in the Dir. Cut, it's so juicy, that you start to enjoy it!), the prison riot is just cut to shit; a cop being forced into a washing machine, Mickey shooting guards just when he escapes, Mickey snapping a guard's fingers (You're the law? I'm a law-breaker!), the second punch from Mallory to the guard in her cell, Scagnetti spraying Mallory with the mace has lost several shots of the liquid being sprayed and Mallory screaming, Scagnetti and Mickey shooting guards graphically in the cell, Scagnetti's death is extremely heavily cut (using alternative takes), a guard being boiled alive, the hanging of a guard, prisoners slitting throats in the barber shop, a con blowing himself up is reduced (via re-framing), Wayne Gale's (enjoyable Robert Downey Jr) crew and the hostage guard getting shot by the other guards, Wayne Gale shooting a guard is reduced (the picture doesn't cut from Gale to the guard getting hit anymore), Mickey (who's yelling One move, and he's dead!) pointing his gun towards the hostage guard was originally shown in a close-up (thus abelling you to see the bloodied guard much better), the guards shooting towards Mickey (who's using a dead guard as a shield), Wayne Gale's hand being shot by Mallory is reduced, a close of a hanged con in the green room, cons raging towards The Warden (Tommy Lee Jones) being shot is shortened (including a con being shot in the neck with a shotgun), the guards shooting a few more cons just before they reach The Warden, The Warden's severed head being dragged all over on a spear, and the shooting of Wayne Gale is heavily cut (in the uncut version, he is shot to total SHIT). Also many scenes have more music added (eg the prostitute-killing) to make the scenes more tame. There's also a rumor (spreaded by director Oliver Stone himself!), that the "crime scene investigation" in the gas station (the one involving Mallory's pubic hair) was cut. This is however false. Also the "snitch bitch" scene reported cut in some sources, is intact. NOTE: The unrated director's cut is released by Future Film on Finnish dvd (anamorphic widescreen) - and videoversions (both rated K18).

A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET/Painajainen Elm Streetillä/FI/K18/MPAA cuts. Even though all other Finnish versions were fully uncut (or at least used the fully uncut version as a source), the Finnish matted widescreen dvd (also available as a part of the "Nightmare On Elm Street DVD Collection" box) is the US version, which was cut about 10 seconds to get an R-rating as follows: *Tina's death deletes her corpse graphically splashing on her bed. *Glenn's death is trimmed from the geyser of blood splashing on the room ceiling. NOTE: The FIx tape is completely uncut - the FI tape is cut.

PHANTASM/Yön Kauhu/FIx/cut 20 sec (+ MPAA cuts). The movie was censored by the MPAA prior the release to avoid an X-rating. A complete small scene, where Tall Man explodes, was cut out (yellow blood is a big MPAA no-no!). This scene is included in the "special features" section of the US Special Edition dvd (R1). Do note, that the US laserdisc (which has almost as much extras as the dvd) does NOT contain this.

ROAD TRIP/FI/K14/MPAA cuts. This moronic comedy's Finnish cinema- and videoversion are identical to the US R-rated version, which has the shower scene cut for nudity. NOTE: The Finnish widescreen dvd is the full uncut UN-R8D version.

ROBOCOP/FI/K16/cut 10 min 48 sec (+ MPAA cuts). VET, and the distributor trimmed almost 11 minutes from an already chopped R-rated cut, which was trimmed about 40 seconds. The MPAA cuts (described by them as "excessive violence") are as follows: 1.The scene where Ed-209 shoots Kinney to total shit, has been trimmed (in the uncut version, Kinney is shot about twice as much, and Dr McNamara is shown pulling the Ed-209 circuits). 2.Murphy shooting Bobby in the leg, is reduced (originally shown in a close-up). 3.The slaughtering of Murphy has been heavily cut, and reduced through-out the scene; all shots of his bloody stump are no more, his entire arm being ripped off by a bullet is no more (substituted with a close-up of a firing shotgun barrel), several shots of him being riddled with bullets have been cut (plus many shots of the gang laughing), Murphy screaming (along with a shot of Boddicker lighting a cigarette, and a shot of Emil saying Clarence, he's still alive) is trimmed, and the cameo of Rob Bottin's prosthetic-Murphy has been removed. 3.A shot of Lewis sitting next to Murphy's remains. 4.The death of Boddicker has been briefly reduced from the blood-splattering (3 seconds worth of it is now shown in a more tamer camera-angle). The MPAA had big problems with the scene where Clarence runs over the melting Emil with a car (they thought it was "much too graphic"), but after a test screening which proved it to be the most popular thing in the movie (incidentally, in the same screening, it was also the most UNPOPULAR thing), even the studio executives pressured the MPAA to accept the scene intact with an R-rating. Which they did, but only after some minor cuts were made to other "problematic" scenes (like the close-up of Bobby getting shot in the leg, and a shot of slaughtered Murphy's remains). NOTE: The Finnish dvd-version (a part of the "RoboCop DVD Collection") features both the standard version, and the director's cut! And adding to that, the VET rating is K15!!! The US Criterion Collection dvd (now out-of-print unfortunately) also features the director's cut (with a director-preffered aspect ratio of 1.66:1, featuring a better framing, with more visual data on the up, down, and left sides of the frame than the "RoboCop DVD Collection" disc, which has an 1.85:1 aspect ratio).

SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER/Launtai-illan Huumaa/FI/K12/MPAA cuts. No cuts by VET, or the distributor, but the FI-version of this flick, that's been rated K12, is the version rated PG by the MPAA, which has MPAA cuts worth of 9 minutes (!!!). The "bad" street language (What th' fuck ya mean 'ts bad, mothafucka?!) is reduced or changed, and some other scenes containing nudity are dropped entirely! NOTE: The FI-versions (video and dvd) rated K16 are uncut versions rated R by the MPAA, and all the "bad" language, and the missing scenes are intact. The British cert.PG-videoversion is the MPAA-butchered version. The British cert.18-videoversion (!) is uncut.

SCANDAL/Skandaali/FI/K16/MPAA cuts. MPAA demanded about six minutes of cuts to sexuality and some explicit language to avoid an X-rating. The first (and the initial) Finnish videoversion is the full uncut version, but the re-release is taken from the R-rated print (both are rated K16). NOTE: The British cert.18-videoversion has been censored: in the orgy scene, a couple in the background having sex (on top of a piano), has blurrings been made (!) in front of their genitals.

SCREAM/FI/K16/MPAA cuts. The R-rated version trimmed by the MPAA to avoid an NC-17 rating came on Finnish cinema, and video with no additional cuts. The MPAA cuts made (totalling 20 seconds) are as follows: 1.Casey's (Drew Barrymore) boyfriend's guts spill out, but the R-rated cut only allows the result to be viewed. 2.Casey hanging from the tree has been reduced. 3.A girl gets a garage door to her head... or (you guessed it) rather doesn't. 4.Gale's (annoying Courtney Cox) camera-man spills blood from his slit throat, but this is censored from the sensitive viewer. 5.The two wacko murderers stab each other more in the uncut version. NOTE: The "director's cut" was later released on video, and dvd (widescreen) in Finland, both uncut, and rated K16. This version features all the MPAA cuts intact!

SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT/Jouluyö, Murhayö/FIx/cut 1 min 5 sec (+ MPAA cuts). The distributor trimmed 1 minute and 5 seconds from this splatter classic, which was an already cut R-rated version, with 50 seconds of cuts by the MPAA to avoid an X-rating: 1.Billy's wet dream has lost the knife being moved, while being in Pamela. 2.Billy's flashback of his mother's death, has lost the santa claus slitting Billy's mother's throat graphically, and rising the bloody knife up in slow-motion. 3.The death of Pamela has lost Billy moving the knife after the stab, and then Billy pulling the knife out, is reduced. 4.The death of the drunken bitch, has lost her slowly dropping dead with an arrow in her back. 5.A long-lasting bodyshot of the drunken bitches body. 6.The "slay ride" murder has been reduced from the gory bodyshots (the corpse sliding down in the sled lasts 3 seconds in the uncut; only 1 in the R-rated, and the shot of the corpse falling next to the decapitated head is shortened by 2 seconds). 7.The death of Denise has been severely cut; several shots of the reindeer's horns sticking out of her stomach are cut out, a close-up shot of Billy's face is deleted for continuity, and shot of the finished murder is no more. 8.The scene where the cop gets an axe to his chest, has been reduced. NOTE: The unrated videoversion in the US is uncut, and suprisingly the video re-release with an R-rating on the cover appears to be uncut also. There is a Anchor Bay dvd out in the US (a double feature with the movie's sequel) - which is uncut - plus the movie is finally presented in its original 1.85:1 widescreen aspect ratio.

SOUTH PARK - BIGGER, LONGER, & UNCUT/South Park - Isompi Pidempi Ja Leikkaamaton/FI/K12/MPAA cuts. Maybe bigger, and longer, but not uncut. The film was submitted to the MPAA six times, and they made about 2 minutes and 30 seconds of cuts to dialogue involving descriptions of oral, and anal sex, and bestiality. A huge number of substitutions were made to replace the censored footage. The cuts include: *In the class room, the dialogue which Cartman yells to Mr Garrison with a megaphone was originally How would you like to gargle rat jiz?, and not the milder How would you like to suck my balls?. This makes you think in the film, that why would Mr Garrison be so offended by the question, in the TV-series, Cartman says shit like that to him all the time. *The dialogue in the school counsellor's office by Mrs Cartman of what is "fisting": That's when the fist is inserted into the anus, or vagina for sexual pleasure was changed to a dialogue about licking ass. *The "Scheisse" video was originally a video of Mrs Cartman sucking a horse's dick. Also, MPAA demanded that the film's title (!) have to be changed (they have a policy that all titles that pass them have to be rated 'G'!!) from "South Park - All Hell Breaks Loose" to its present. Very ironically, the MPAA didn't get the penis reference in the present title, and approved it!!! The Finnish video (and dvd) versions are identical to the R-rated cut.

SPARTACUS/FIx. The FIx tape of this ok epic by Stanley Kubrick is the Production Code-approved 1967 re-release version, which had several censorings to remove some seconds of graphic violence, and the notorious "bath" scene with Laurence Olivier and Tony Curtis. NOTE: The FI tape, and the Finnish widescreen dvd (both rated K16) are fully uncut (the film was released in 1991 as a restored version with the cuts intact). The US Criterion Collection dvd (with two discs), which is fully uncut, anamorphic widescreen, and contains good extras, is recommended (even though the R1 and R2 Columbia dvds have better framing, this one has better picture quality and extras).

STRAW DOGS/Olkikoirat/FI/K18/MPAA cuts. The Finnish dvd (which incorrectly screams the version "Uncut" on the dvd cover), proved out to be the R-rated version, which was cut 47 seconds by the MPAA to avoid an X-rating: the first portion of the rape is intact (which includes the girl's old friend doing the raping), but the second portion of the rape, which includes another man doing his turn on the girl, is very heavily shortened - sights of Dustin Hoffman that are intercut with the cenbsored footage are also missing, and so is the sight of the rapers getting dressed afterwards, and the girl looking around. The rest of the violence in the movie is intact, so the persistent rumours of the cuts in the R-rated version being several minutes is false. NOTE: The FI tape is heavily cut, but the FIx tape is fully uncensored.

A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE/Viettelysten Vaunu/FI/K16. This 1951 original was heavily cut after a protest from The Catholic Legion Of Decency for very light sexual content. The Finnish videoversion is identical to this, and the cuts are to scenes depicting the sexual tension between Blanche and Stanley, and a scene depicting Stella's carnal (yikes!) attraction towards her husband (the scene where Stella walks down the stairs to Stanley is heavily edited). NOTE: In 1993, the censored footage running 4 minutes was at last released in the US on video. The US dvd-version is also the uncut version.

TORSO/FIx/MPAA cuts? Some sources over the years have said that this is cut - the old Finnish video is the US R-rated version, which very well may have been cut by the MPAA to avoid an X-rating. NOTE: The US Anchor Bay dvd is uncut, and excellent anamorphic widescreen (1.85:1).

TOTAL RECALL/Unohda Tai Kuole/FI/K16/cut 1 min 8 sec (+ MPAA cuts). Like pretty much every Paul Verhoeven-movie, also this classic was trimmed by the MPAA for an R-rating, and the Finnish distributor did even further cuts totalling 1 minute and 8 seconds. The cuts were as follows: 1.The scene, where Quiad uses a pedetrian as a shield against the bad guys' fire, was originally more bloody (even now it's incredibly graphic). 2.The midget stabbing Richter's aide originally showed "the ol' inout, inout" more graphically. 3.The shot of Benny's death was cropped to avoid graphic nastiness (the drill coming through from his stomach). There was some talk years ago of the unrated director's cut being relased on Pioneer laserdisc, but the release was (for some reason) dropped.

THE TOXIC AVENGER/FI/K16/cut 1 min 5 sec (+ MPAA cuts). The R-version with approximately 10 minutes of cuts by the MPAA, was in Finnish theatres, with no additional cuts, and with a K16-rating. And for some reason, the distributor trimmed even more for the video release. One of those films, that have been totally butchered by the American film-maker's dearest f(r)iend, the Motion Picture Association of America, also known as the MPAA, is Lloyd Kaufman's, and Michael Hertz's camp-classic, "The Toxic Avenger". Now, we exclusivelly present the (almost?) complete list of "Toxic Avenger" MPAA cuts: 1.Dialogue cut heavily (!) from the scene in the locker room, where Slug, and Wanda talk about hit-and-run pedestrians. 2.Slug, and Wanda screwing, is briefly shortened. 3.Heavily cut; the famous head-crushing. The hit-and-runned kid moving, and the crew backing up with the car, and crushing his head, and Wanda and Julie going out to take pictures of the corpse, and then the crew driving away, are all cut out in a row. 4.Shinbone alley; Cigarface kicking O'Clancy, who's on the ground. 5.Shinbone alley; Toxie repeatedly punching Cigarface, lasts longer. 6.Shinbone alley; Toxie bashing Knuckles' nose off, is cut out. 7.Shinbone alley; Toxie gouging the transvestite thug's eyes, is completely cut out. 8.Shinbone alley; Knucles passing out. 9.Shinbone alley; Toxie punching Cigarface into the barrel, is shortened. 10.Shinbone alley; Toxie bashing Knuckles, and the transvestite thug's heads together, is no more. 11.Taco-bar; Leroy shotgunning a guy, is reduced. 12.Taco-bar; the shot man squirming on the floor. 13.Taco-bar; Frank ripping Sarah's panties off, and some dialogue, like I did always wanted to poke me a blind bitch. 14.Taco-bar; Frank's hand-stump splattering blood. 15.Taco-bar; Frank trying to get up from the floor, with his one hand only. 16.Taco-bar; Toxie stuffing Frank to the oven, is shortened. 17.Taco-bar; a brief bodyshot of Leroy's mangled face, is gone. 18.Taco-bar; a shot of a dead dog is deleted. And a bunch of dialogue has also gone for continuity. 19.A brief close-up of Rico's boiled hands, is deleted. 20.The drug-dealer's body squirming around in the weight machine, along with a juicy close-up of the mangled head, is no more. 21.Wanda's ass boiling, is shortened. 22.Toxie ducking down, and making a thug slash his friend, and Toxie pushing a thug's knife to its owner, have been completely deleted. 23.Cigarface squirming after he's shot, is no more. 24.Slug beating the old granny with her cane has been cut from four hits to just one. 25.When Toxie nears the mayor, flashbacks of a close-up of Frank's arm being pulled off, and the weight machine murder (now shown from a more grisly angle), have neen cut out. 26.The mayor digging his own guts, is reduced. 27.The bodyshot of the dead mayor, is omitted. NOTE: The Finnish videoversion re-release (rated K18) is the complete Director's Cut.

VIDEODROME/Videodrome - Tuhon Ase/FIx/cut 3 min 26 sec (+ MPAA cuts). This was released as a pre-cut R-rated version, with cuts totalling about a minute courtesy of the MPAA to archieve an R-rating. The asshole Finnish distributer made 3 minutes and 26 seconds of additional cuts (!!!). The cuts in the R-rated version are as follows: the "Samurai Dreams" video is trimmed - the dildo isn't fully visible (this cut was not actually courtesy of the MPAA, but was demanded by Universal executive Bob Rehme), the first "Videodrome" program has lost strangling and a sight of pubic hair, the second "Videodrome" program has been shortened from a take of a woman being whipped, Max piercing Nickie's ear with a needle has been very heavily cut (a shot of Max moving the needle across her body is missing, and two close-ups of ear piercing are cut out), the tilting shot of Max and Nickie making love is altered by fading, the spikes from the gun gnawing to Max's palm is trimmed, Max shooting his second partner's brains out is briefly shortened from the blood-flow, and the death of Barry Convex is shortened (from his head bleeding prior to it splitting open, from a shot of his entrails erupting, and the climatic shot of his body bleeding). NOTE: The Finnish widescreen dvd (rated K18) is unfortunately identical to the R-rated version, and is without additional cuts. The full unrated version is available in widescreen on dvd in the US, and in the UK on laserdisc (though, beware the both UK videoversions, one is the R-rated version (cert.18 version), and the other is the R-rated version with even more cuts [the one released prior to the UK video act]!).

ZOOLANDER/FI/K11/MPAA cuts. This moronic comedy by Ben Stiller was sent to the MPAA, but it got an R-rating, and oh boy, that wasn't suitable for the marketing plan, so up came the scissors for an PG-13 rating. The MPAA made cuts to a scene of an orgy between Stiller, Christine Taylor, Owel Wilson, Hansen, some New Zealand tribal warriors, and some Finnish midgets (!!!). The cuts parts included the characters rubbed soil to each other, and a sequence with a goat.

UNCUT:

1492: CONQUEST OF THE PARADISE/1492 - Paratiisin Valloitus/uncut. This was incredibly passed uncut in the US with a PG-13 (those hypocrites! If you butcher a thousand people, that's nothing. If you show a woman's breasts or say fuck, it's R or NC-17!), and also passed uncut with a K16-rating from VET. Just love that hand-severing!!!

48 HRS/48 Tuntia/FIx/uncut. The Finnish censors didn't object this excellent flick, and all the extreme scenes of Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy beating each other, are intact (and the death of the bossbaddie too). The cover art of the FIx-version also contains the nowadays-rare uncensored "middle finger" poster! The FI tape and widescreen dvd are uncut too (with a K16-rating). NOTE: Beware of the heavily cut Swedish videoversion.

8 MM/8 Millimetriä/FI/K16/uncut. Now, this was funny. Some members of VET thought, that this movie should be banned completely!!! It was given a K18-rating, and after an appeal from the distributor, it was given an K16. It's a wonderful world! NOTE: The US version had heavy cuts courtesy of the MPAA to archieve an R-rating, the cuts are as follows: 1.Sex through-out the movie was trimmed. 2.A conversation of Phoenix and Cage is cut, because the TV-sets in the background are showing hard-core porn. 3.Several shots of enema porn in the sex club was hacked out. 4.The throat-slit of Phoenix is reduced.

ADVENTURE KID Episodes 1-4/Adventure Duo/FI/K16/uncut. Manga containing excessive sex, and rape. And with the original Japanese dialogue! Yiii-motherfuckin'-aaa! In the UK, they cut all the episodes to literally to pieces, like episode 3 is cut almost 8 minutes!!!

AI NO CORRIDA/Aistien Valtakunta/FI/K16/uncut. First this erotic classic was banned for god-only-knows-how-long by VET, then in the 90's it was given a cinema certificate of K18 by VET, and then the distributor did an appeal to VET, and it was released on video uncut with a K16-rating from VET! NOTE: The British cert.18-videoversion has only one BBFC censoring; the scene of a little boy's pecker being rubbed by an older women is cropped (the film also has over 6 minutes worth of narrative scenes edited out). The UK video released prior to the UK video act is almost completely uncut and uncensored (it has lost 8 seconds courtesy of print damages). The Australian version is censored.

AMITYVILLE II: THE POSSESSION/Amityville - Paholaisen Piiri/FIx/uncut. Prequel to the poor "Amityville Horror" is much better, and features a nice viscerality and gooey effects. Beware of the poor sequels, that followed. The Finnish dvd is also reported uncut and widescreen.

ANOTHER 48 HRS/Toiset 48 Tuntia/FI/K16/uncut. Class A violence entertainment, which contains pretty extreme violence, but was probably left uncut because the first part was so critically aclaimed (unfortunately this wasn't!!!). The Finnish widescreen dvd-version is also uncut.

APRIL FOOL'S DAY/Aprillipäivä/FI/K16/uncut. The movie has some strong gore, and violence at times, but none too serious (the people who have seen the film, know probably why). The Swedish videoversion is hacked to a non-sense torso for some reason (almost three minutes cut out!).

BAD TASTE/FI/K16/uncut. This splatter-comedy with extreme violence was passed uncut with a K16-rating from VET, which is actually a miracle. Pete Jackson's other splatter-comedy "Braindead" didn't have the luxury, even though it was cut over six minutes by the distributor, it wasn't passed with a K16-rating for video. The Finnish pan & scan full screen 4:3 (the US Anchor Bay disc has the original Super-16 1.66:1 aspect ratio, plus it's THX-certifified, and anamorphic) dvd-version is also uncut, and rated K15. NOTE: I've actually heard, that there's an even more extreme version of this movie (a rough cut?), which, though is also extremely unavailable (this is just a rumor, so don't go busting your balls trying to find this). Extra shots would include the boss alien's eye-balls dropping to the floor, and extra cannibalism. The Australian video is censored about a minute.

BEYOND BEDLAM/Paholaisen Takapiha/FI/K16/uncut. The BBFC for some reason had extreme difficulties for letting this movie "loose" on video in the UK, and it sat on their "banned for video" shelf for almost several years! After making cuts totalling 17 seconds, the British cert.18-videoversion was released. VET had absolutely no problem with this movie, and no wonder, it contains almost no strong violence at all. It was really hard for me to start analyzing, what was cut in the UK, when I did not know ar first, because this movie doesn't contain butterfly knives, nunchucks, or other BBFC mumbo-jumbo. But here are the cuts: one cut is to remove a punch in a fight scene, and the other is to drug content.

BIG BOSS/FIx/uncut. A very violent Bruce Lee movie (not his best, even though the bloodiest), that somehow survived the scissors of the distributor. The Finnish dvd-version (anamorphic widescreen) is also uncut (and rated K18).

BLACK CAESAR/Musta Keisari/FIx/uncut. Yeah nigga, I'm a baaad mutha! Fred "baaaaaaaaaad mothafucka" Williamson in his first starring role, this movie contains scenes of gory violence (like the great pool party massacre), and it's all intact.

BLACK RAIN/Musta Sade/FI/K16/uncut. A movie by Ridley Scott, this was rumored to be cut in Finland for a while (it contains some bloody violence), but it's fully uncut.

BLADE/FI/K18/uncut. The very gory Wesley Snipes actioner passed uncut from VET with the K18-rating (this is maybe a little "overrated"). Also watch out for genre-favourite Udo "where-gin" Kier in an excellent supporting role. NOTE: The British cert.18-videoversion has been rumored to be trimmed - blood gushing out of vampires' throats was reportedly briefly cut.

BLOOD OF FU MANCHU/Fumanchu - Himon Herra/FIx/uncut. A good old Fu Manchu movie with the legendary Christopher Lee, directed by the almost-as-much-legendary Jesus Franco. The FIx-version is uncut, and with a great cover art! NOTE: The British cert.15-videoversion has cuts totalling 1 minute and 46 seconds!!! I mean, sure this movie contains some "sleazy" violence (like whipping, an' shit), that the BBFC hasn't got a good eye on, but these cuts are way outta line! Well, what am I complaining? Fuck the UK version! Ha ha ha!!!

BLOODSPORT 2/FI/K16/uncut. The first, and the third part of this "saga" suffered cuts upon video in Finland, but this second part, which is just as about strong in its violence as the other parts, got passed uncut with a K16-rating. NOTE: The British cert.18-videoversion is cut 1 second - an ear-clap is missing.

BLUE VELVET/Ja Sinisempi Oli Yö/FIx/uncut. The masterpiece of David Lynch, uncut, though with an extremely poor pan & scan transfer (this is one of those 'widescreen or no screen' movies, like "Assault On Precint 13", "Once Upon A Time In The West", "Dr. Terror's House Of Horrors", Akira Kurosawa's Scope movies, and "Brainstorm") from the original 2.35:1 (J-D-C Scope) image. All Finnish versions are uncut (including the FI tape and dvd [both rated K16]), but in poor p & s full screen presentations.

BODY OF EVIDENCE/Hyytävä Syleily/FI/K16/uncut. See Madonna nude!!! See Madonna nude!!! Oh, you've already seen...? What, a couple of times...? What? You mean, you've saw her more nude, than with clothes on? Well, have you yet seen Willem Dafoe fucking her up the ass in this uncut version, with all the MPAA cuts made for an R-rating, intact? Touché!

THE BOONDOCK SAINTS/Boondock Saints - Etelä-Bostonin Enkelit/FI/K18/uncut. On widescreen, and fully uncut. This Tarantino rip-off has a pretty poor (and extremely simple) script, but the action is incredible, most of humour is ok, and Willem Dafoe's maniacal over-acting is extremely enjoyable! NOTE: The US version first got the dreaded NC-17 rating from the MPAA, then a little over 10 seconds was trimmed from the most goriest violent scenes, and it got an R rating. The FI-version has all the following MPAA cuts intact: 1.The graphic shooting of the Russian mobsters in the hotel, is trimmed by several seconds from the bullet hits. 2.The Funny Man (David Rocco) shooting the young fellas in the coffee shop is shortened - shooting of the young fella #1 to the head, has been almost completely removed. The following shooting of young fella #2 in the chest is shortened and reduced by using alternative footage; the bullet is shown coming out from the seat in a close-up, and new footage of young fella#2 dropping dead is added. 3.When the Saints attack the game, the mobster who opened the door, gets a handful of bullets to his gut, but not in the R-rated cut. 6.In the scene where the Saints attack the game, a guy holding a phone gets shot two times - the second one is missing. The Canadian and American widescreen dvd-versions are identical to the R-rated cut, so scrap them off your shopping list. The dvd-version released by Scanbox in Sweden, and Norway is the fully uncut version, and on widescreen. The Spanish, the UK, and the Japanese dvd-versions are also uncut, and widescreen (the Japanese one even contains extras).

THE BOYS FROM BRAZIL/Brasilian Pojat/FIx/uncut. The somewhat gory Hitler yarn starring Sir Laurence Olivier, and Gregory Peck. NOTE: Some versions are missing an entire sub-plot (eg some European video- and TV-versions), and thus miss out several scenes, including the very final scene. The Swedish video is cut 57 seconds - very heavily cuts applied to the bloody death of Mengele.

BRAINDEAD/Aivokuollut/FI/K18/uncut. Today this would be passed uncut with a K18-rating from the clutches of VET, an' I'm not that suprised, but back in '94, the censor was a little more harsh, but still they passed this probably one of the most goriest films ever made, with an K18-rating for Finnish cinemas. The Finnish K18-rated dvd-version (the original Super-16 1.66:1 aspect ratio cropped and matted to 1.85:1) is also uncut. NOTE: The UK 18-rated video is suprisingly uncut, and the US version titled "Dead Alive" excludes several minutes of narrative scenes, and some gore (e.g. the sex scene between the nurse zombie and the kung fu priest zombie is shorter).

CANDYMAN/FI/K16/uncut. Uncut, uncut, uncut, uncut, uncut! Wish came true, even though this movie has a few scenes of pretty strong gore. Just check out that killing of the shrink! Part two went through uncut also with a K16-rating, but part three wasn't so lucky. NOTE: The US version is cut for an R-rating: several shots of the killing of the shrink has been removed (like the close-up of the shrink with blood on his mouth being yanked), and substituted with tamer angles.

CHILD'S PLAY 2/FI/K16/uncut. The first part was completely banned (!!!), and the third (and later the fourth) went on video with cuts. But even though, this sequel is just as violent as the third part, and even more violent than the first of the series, this was passed uncut with a K16-rating without any problems. Both the vhs, and the widesreen dvd are uncut.

CHRISTIANE F. - WIR KINDER VOM BAHNOF ZOO/Christiane F. - Tyttö Huumekadulta/FI/K16/uncut. The British cert.18-videoversion is trimmed 5 minutes and 2 seconds (!!!), because of the pervasive heroin-drug-usage.

CLIFFHANGER/Cliffhanger - Kuilun Partaalla/FI/K16/uncut. This Renny Harlin's enjoyable Sly Stallone actioner was passed uncut from VET with a K16-rating. This is fairly suprising, even though the movie's directed by "Finnish" director Harlin, which should cause a great audience appeal, given that the violence is really bloody at times. NOTE: The British version is cut 1 minute and 28 seconds (!!!) for the '15' certificate as follows; *Lyons shooting the blonde skydiver loses one bullet hit. *Hal (Michael Rooker) shouting You murdering motherfuck! has lost the fuck. *Delmar's line Good, and blow up that black bastard too while you're at it, save me the trouble doing it myself is missing. *Close-up shot of Kynette's leg wound has lost blood flowing in slow-motion. *The Gabe (Stallone) vs Kynette fight has lost three punches into Gabe. *A high kick into Gabe, and few subsequent hits are cut out. *Kynette hitting Gabe in the ribs twice, punching him with his elbow, and then kicking him in the face, thus sending him flying back, have been excised. *Kynette shouting Wrong answer, motherfucker is cut. *Kynette beating Gabe while questioning him is cut. *Kynette's line ...and his bitch is deleted (only in the dvd, the British video has this intact). *The graphic death of Kynette is strongly reduced, deleting the spike coming through his chest, and his death cries and struggles. *The death of Frank is trimmed by few frames. *Kristel's death has lost the third gunshot, and her body falling on the ground has been shortened to remove sights of her wounds. The scene of Delmar prolongingly beating up Hal is very heavily cut in the UK edit: *Delmar kneeing Hal in the face is removed. *Delmar saying Isn't that something?, then kicking Hal in the face, and a following graphic shot of blood coming from Hal's face are all deleted. *Delmar walking around Hal, then stomping on him, Hal yelling Fuck you!, and Delmar then saying to Hal: You're swearing now! That's a penalty kick, for unsportsmanlike., and then running at Hal and kicking him. All of this is cut out. *Delmar's line A lovely little chip shot, and a proceeding kick into Hal are cut. *Delmar repeatedly kicking Hal, while doing a mock football commentary, is completely removed. *After Delmar steps on Hal's hand, a close-up of him laughing is excised. *An extreme close-up of the knife being stuck on Delmar's foot, and blood pouring out, is missing. *Travers' line Adios, motherfucker! is changed to Adios, I'm after Walker!. *Gabe shooting Travers through the ice is cut. *A sight of Travers' body falling backwards is removed.

A CLORKWORK ORANGE/Kellopeli Appelsiini/FI/K16/uncut! First this masterpiece was banned for video (it got an K18-rating from VET), but maybe they were too regretted it, because it came on video the following year, uncut, and with a K16-rating! Yeah! NOTE: The Finnish dvd-version (excellent digit. mast. widescreen) is also fully uncut, and rated K15. The US version rated 'R' by the MPAA (an uncut version rated 'X' is also available) has been cut 17 seconds, from the fast-forwarded orgy in Alex's room, Alex's genital examination (briefly cut), and the rape on the Ludovico treatment. Beware of the Japanese laserdisc, because it has all of the frontal nudity optically censored via blurring.

COLOR OF NIGHT/Yön Väreet/FI/K16/uncut. The hilariously awful Bruce Willis vehicle with strong sex, bloody stylized violence, and a great supporting cast (including Brad Dourif, Lance Henriksen, and a cameo by Bruce's cock). NOTE: The R-rated US version has been very heavily trimmed from the sex-scenes between Willis, and Jane March. All the European versions are the full, uncut, unrated versions.

COMIN' AT YA!/Kalpea Kostaja/FIx/uncut. A bloody spaghetti-western, which was shot in 3-D. This is probably the most surreal wop western ever made! It features a very thin plot, and bubbles, yo-yos, blood, rubber bats, and other shit, as the title says, comin' at ya! Because the videoversion isn't in 3-D at all, the movie works even better! NOTE: The US dvd from Rhino (presented in widescreen and technically workable 3-D) is actually reported to be shortened, eliminating a 10-minute flashback in the beginning of the picture.

COMPANY OF THE WOLVES/Sudet Tulevat/FI/K16/uncut.

CONAN - THE BARBARIAN/Conan - Barbaari/FIx/uncut. The Arnold Scwarzenegger-flick has absolutely suprisingly little damage from censors around the globe! Perhaps, because this is a "real film", rather than a B-movie with just chicks, and gore. This features an incredible amount of splatter, and gore. Too bad the movie is kinda crap, and very dull (at least I think it is) ... NOTE: The Finnish dvd-version (widescreen, rated K15) is also uncut, and features good extras. The British cert.15-versions (video and dvd) are cut 19 seconds - one horse falling in the opening and numerous horses falling in the stand-off sequence in the desert.

CONTAMINATION/Kuoleman Koura/FIx/uncut. An "Alien" rip-off by Luigi Cozzi, which is a video nasty in the UK. The FIx-version is also presented in widescreen. NOTE: The UK videoversion re-released prior the British video act as "Alien Contamination" has been very heavily edited (the initial video nasty UK videoversion is uncut): 1.The bodyshot of the decomposed corpse in the beginning (13 secs). 2.The opening has lost all of the men exploding (1 min 13 secs!). 3.The criminals exploding in the warehouse is deleted (19 secs). 4.In the warehouse, a bodyshot of an exploded guy (2 secs). 5.The alien queen mutilating the man's head has met the censors' wrath (9 secs). 6.A scientist exploding after being shot is cut out (11 secs). 7.The climatic gory exploding of the bossbaddie is very heavily cut (33 secs).

CRASH/FI/K16/uncut. David Cronenberg's critically acclaimed flick, which even though to its big amount of explicit sexuality didn't encounter any problem with VET (which appearantly doesn't hold any grudge to such naughty elements). NOTE: The US R-rated version is extremely heavily cut (about 10 minutes) for numerous explicit sex scenes; 1.A man (literally) kissing Catherine's (Deborah Unger) ass in the hangar has been deleted. 2.The beginning of the sex-scene between Ballard (James Spader), and the camera operator is cut out. 3.In the hospital, Catherine masturbating Ballard, and some explicit language about car crashes, is no more. 4.The sex-scene between Catherine, and Ballard in the couch is trimmed (in the NC-17 version, it lasts over twice as much). 5.Vaughan (Elias Koteas) touching Catherine's crotch has been reduced (along with a reaction-shot from Ballard). 6.A long graphic sex-scene between Vaughan and Catherine (with explicit dialogue) is completely removed. 7.A sex-scene between Ballard and Catherine (following cut 6) is removed. 8.At Seagraveplace, a shot of Ballard, Gabrielle (Rosanna Arquette), and Helen (Holly Hunter) touching each others' legs, is nowhere on sight. 9.In Vaughan's car, almost all sexual activity on the back seat is removed in the R. 10.In the car wash, three shots of Vaughan's hand on Catherine's genitals are no more, as the shot of Catherine's sperm-filled hand reaching for the front seat. 11.A long-lasting shot of Catherine naked (with ugly bruises) is completely deleted. 12.The sex-scene between Ballard and Gabrielle is slightly trimmed. 13.The end of the movie is changed! Ballard having sex with Catherine is completely cut out (about a minute in a row). The US dvd (widescreen, R1) contains both the fully uncut NC-17 rated version, and the R-rated cut.

CRIMES OF PASSION/Intohimorikoksia/FI/K16/uncut. Ken Russell's thriller with Tony Perkins as a nut (suprise, suprise again). NOTE: The US R-rated version is very heavily cut from the sexual content. The British cert.18-videoversion is cut 24 seconds as follows: 1.Opening dialogue cuts out the line Fuck you, hopper!. 2.Miss Liberty reaching through a client's trousers to stroke an erect penis is omitted. 3.The mock raping of China Blue is heavily cut to remove most of the thrusts, and 2 of the most explicit erotic Japanese prints. 4.During China Blue's S & M scene with the police man client, his truncheon being inserted and twisted in his ass is shortened.

CURSE OF THE MUMMY'S TOMB/Muumion Haudan Kirous/FIx/uncut. A watchable Hammer-flick, with startling scenes, and lots of cool hand-severings. Too bad the pan & scan 4:3 full screen image (cropped from the original Techniscope 2.35:1) almost ruins the whole movie.

CYBORG/FI/K18/uncut. Violent J-C Van Damme sci-fi actioner was released on video and widesreen dvd in 2001 in Finland fully uncut, and uncensored. NOTE: The British cert.18-videoversion has been cut 3 minutes and 15 seconds (and even worse, almost all of the cuts are just made to pure violence, not to nunchucks, or other BBFC non-sense!): 1.When the gang attacks the Slinger, 3 punches and 3 kicks to him are deleted. 2.The Slinger's throat cut is missing. 3.Van Damme stabbing a ganger in the stomach is shortened. 4.The slaughter in the village is shortened. 5.Close-up of a spike coming out from Van Damme's shoe. 6.A spiked-in-the-throat ganger spilling blood onto a wall. 7.A kick to a baddie's face in the factory by Van Damme is cut out. 8.Cut applied to a baddie kicking Van Damme prior he falls over the edge in the factory. 9.The hand-severing and the subsequent stabbing of the female baddie is missing. 10.In the swamp, Van Damme snipping the spike from his shoe is deleted. 11.A COMPLETE scene where the bossbaddie repeatedly beats up the helpless Van Damme is completely censored (this scene appears in the uncut version just before Van Damme is crucified). 12.The catfight in the barn is heavily reduced from punches, kickings, and chair hits. 13.The fight of Van Damme vs the long haired baddie loses all of Van Damme's kicks to the guy's ribs. 14.the final battle has lost repeat punches and kicks prior to Van Damme being thrown into the car. 15.In the final battle, just after Van Damme is risen from the car, numerous punches are no more. 16.The final battle has Van Damme stabbing the bossbaddie, but the UK version loses a close-up of the blade entering the stomach. 17.In the final battle, the battling in the barn has lost an ear-clap, and again countless kicks, and punches. The US R-rated version is also cut (at least from the hand-severing).

THE DELIVERANCE/Villi Joki/FI/K16/uncut. Many have claimed, that this flick's Finnish videoversions would be cut, but they ain't. Too bad, that the film's rip-offs (spawned by the film's success) are better actually than this original. The Finnish dvd is also uncut (and widescreen).

DEPORTED WOMEN OF THE SS SPECIAL SECTION/SS-Erikoisosasto/FIx/uncut. Even though there's some mumbling about the film being censored (?) on the cover, this Rino Silvestro's nazi- camp (literally!)- exploitation is reportedly fully uncut, and even presented on a nice widescreen print. Believe it, or not, but this movie is actually BANNED in England! This was probably due to the very explicit sexuality (which the BBFC could well object to), or maybe the most memorable scene, which is the infamous "aftershave of the cunt" climax!

DETROIT 9000/FI/K16/uncut. The British cert.18-videoversion has been trimmed a record-making 9 minutes (!), but the Finnish folks can enjoy this dull (but really violent) blaxploitation-movie.

DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE/Die Hard - Koston Enkeli/FI/K16/uncut. There have been very strong pervasive rumors, that this was cut in Finland for video - but I'm tellin' you - - it's completely uncut, just as the theatrical- and widescreen dvd-versions! Suspicious...? I compared the damn tapes myself with a motherfucking stopwatch! You happy?! NOTE: The British version is cut 12 seconds for some violence and the language is reduced through-out to archieve a '15' certificate as follows: 1.McClane's line Ten blocks? Are you fucking kidding me? to Walter has the fucking replaced with really. 2.The gang member shouting What the fuck?! is altered to What the hell is that?!. 3.Zeus (holding his arm in the taxi) yells Oh fuck! but he is quiet in the UK edit. 4.In the police station, McClane's line Fuck you, Joe becomes Go away, Joe. 5.McClane's He's a fuck up, not a psycho becomes He's a flunky, not a psycho. 6.McClane's line refers to Simon as fucking wacko but in the more polite land of UK, just freaky wacko. 7.During a riddle, McClane's line Fuck the man is altered to Forget the man. 8.After the wild taxi drive, McClane's line That's gotta be a fucking record loses the fucking. 9.McClane shouting Fuck! while carrying the bomb in the subway train is cut out. 10.After Zeus' Rodney King joke, McClane says Fuck you, but in the UK edit it's Very funny. 11.The quiet woman killing a guard is reduced from the slashings. 12.After McClane is almost hit by a truck in Wall Street, Zeus' line What the fuck are we doing back here is redubbed to remove the strong profanity (or "sexual swearwords", as the BBFC likes them called!). 13.The lift scene loses a brief shot of a body falling on the floor. 14.In the lift scene, McClane shouting Put that fucking gun down! twice is redubbed. 15.McClane headbutting a bloodied guard many times is removed from the lift scene. 16.The lift scene has lost McClane blowing Otto's brains out and blood splashing on his face.17.McClane shouting Freeze... Put your fucking hands up now! to Zeus loses the fucking. 18.McClane growling Simon-fucking-Says! after seeing Ricky's body has the strong language removed. 19.Zeus with a gold bar saying No fucking way is redubbed. 20.After McClane has asked Zeus does he know how to hotwire a car, Zeus replies It takes too fucking long, which is altered in the UK as It takes too frigging long. 21. The businessman's line to McClane and Zeus, Go fuck yourself! is Go take a hike! in the UK edit. 22.McClane's line to the foreman write those fucking clowns off has the expletive cut out. 23.McClane pumping up the cons driving a truck full of bullets is trimmed from their bodies being with riddled from the bullet impacts. 24.McClane calling Simon a fuck-head on the radio has been altered to bone-head in the UK edit. 25.Zeus asking McClane What the fuck happened? becomes What the hell happened?. 26.The chain fight has lost one hit, and McClane's line They got a motherfucker on there called Lurch! has the motherfucker redubbed to just mother. 27.McClane's line to the coastguard that they should look for a big fucking white boat is redubbed to remove the you-know-what. 28.Zeus asking Simon Ain't no riddle gonna stop this motherfucker? has been altered to Ain't no riddle gonna stop this thing?. 29.Zeus asking McClane What the fuck are you doing? while he's trying to grab the splinter has the strong language removed. 30.While McClane grips the splinter in his teeth, him telling Zeus Don't drop this motherfucker, all right? loses the motherfucker. 31.Zeus asking McClane What the fuck is sorta seperated? while in the UK edit the line is What the hell is sorta seperated?. 32.McClane's You dropped the fucking thing? loses the fucking fucking. 33.McClane looking for the splinter shouting I don't fucking see it! loses the expletive. 34.When the bomb starts making noises, Zeus yelling What the fuck was that?! has the fuck redubbed. 35.Zeus telling McClane to get the fuck out of here loses the strong language. 36.Zeus' line Oh fuck, my leg! is cut out. 37.Zeus' Fuck that, McClane is altered to Forget that, McClane. 38.Zeus' line Run motherfuckers, the exterminators are here! is Run suckers, the exterminators are here! in the UK edit.

DIRTY WEEKEND/FIc/K18/uncut. A beautifully repulsive, and gory vigilante-movie from (suprise, suprise) Michael Winner. NOTE: The British cert.18-videoversion is cut 1 minute and 29 seconds (at least the great "oral" scene has been trimmed by the UK censors)!

DON'T ANSWER THE PHONE!/Soitto Murhaajalta/FIx/uncut. A pretty sexually violent flick, with almost unbelievably bad acting, which was haunted by the censors in the UK. One of the (in?)famous "Don't"-series (including opening the door, going to the basement, going near the park, going to the woods alone, reading ATTIC etc). NOTE: The US R-rated dvd is very heavily cut from the sexual violence.

DON'T OPEN 'TIL CHRISTMAS/FIx/uncut. The gory slasher. I actually heard that the FIx-version's uncut! NOTE: The British cert.18-videoversion is trimmed 2 minutes and 13 seconds: 1.The killer running a razor over Pat Astley's body twice has been deleted. 2.The murder of the peep show santa has lost the santa spitting blood, and blood splashing on the window. 3.In the London Dungeon, the santa walking across a bloody body, is omitted. 4.The London Dungeon santa's stabbing is reduced. 5.The cop santa, and the aiding santa's death is almost completely deleted! 6.The castration of the santa has lost blood flowing to the urinal. 7.Shots of the peep show girl being chained are omitted. 8.Belinda Mayne being stabbed is reduced.

ERASER/Eraser - Suojelija/FI/K16/uncut. Just a normal medium-violent Arnie Schwarzenegger-movie, but the BBFC, for some unknown reason, trimmed, or should I say, HACKED, the movie 3 minutes and 22 seconds (!!!!) from the violence!!! And it has an '15' certificate, not an 'U'! All the Finnish versions are uncut.

EVIL ED/FI/K18/uncut. A good premise, but this Swedish splatter soon descends to boredom, and dryness. With a witty script, and ten times the current gore effects, they could have got something special out of it. NOTE: The British video certified '18' has been cut 2 seconds from a "Loose Limbs" clip, the cut being applied to blood dripping on a woman's breasts. The US versions (the one R-rated, and the other unrated) are both heavily cut from the gore.

THE EXORCIST/Manaaja/FIx/uncut! This William Friedkin's classic's all uncut; it even contains the famous scene of possessed Linda Blair jackin' off with a crucifix. NOTE: The "Version You Have Never Seen Before" was released in 2001, and it passed uncut with a K18-rating. The film was banned in the UK for about a million years, but it was finally granted a '18' certificate uncut in the early of 2000.

EXQUISITE TENDERNESS/Kirurgi Silpoja/FI/K16/uncut. Contains some pretty strong gore, but not to VET's opinion!

EYES WIDE SHUT/FI/K16/uncut. The completely uncut, unrated version of Stan Kubrick's last film, that's has an incredibly great long orgy-scene, which is great cinema, but the latter part of the movie is unfortunately pretty mediocre. NOTE: The US version rated 'R' by the MPAA, has got CGI people standing on the way of all the most "naughty" parts of the orgy-scene (like a masked couple thrusting, and a man fucking a woman doggie-style). The UK version (with a '18' certificate) had a religious citation during the orgy sequence removed at the demand of the BBFC! The BBFC comments: "The soundtrack of the film was changed prior to submission to the BBFC. The intoning of a section of the Bhagavad Gita during the orgy sequence was replaced by other music". At least the HK dvd (R3) features the citation intact (and is also uncut and uncensored, and with the original 4:3 full screen aspect ratio).

THE FIGHTING FISTS OF SHANGHAI JOE/FIx/uncut. A gory western-martial arts movie, with Klaus Kinski. What more could you want?

FLESH + BLOOD/Lihaa Ja Verta/FIx/uncut. This very explicit Paul Verhoeven movie didn't suprisingly find censor trouble from Finnish distributors. NOTE: The UK 18-rated videoversion is cut 38 sec from the gang rape of Jennifer Jason Leigh. The US version is cut from Jennifer Jason Leigh's gang rape, and from the sex scene including the servant girl for an 'R' rating.

FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE/Vain Muutaman Dollarin T hden/FIx/uncut. Even though Sergio Leone's "Dollar" trilogy isn't excessively violent or anything, this is the only instalment that survived uncut to a Finnish video release (even though in a full screen pan & scan version... unfortunately, considering all the wonderful visual compositions in the original Techniscope 2.35:1 version). NOTE: The UK dvd-version (certified '15') is CUT - The beat-up scene is shortened about 10 seconds! The US widescreen dvd contains the exact same cut! The UK video is supposed to be fully uncut, and it has the same certificate as the dvd.

FOXY BROWN/FIx/FI/K15/uncut. I wann justice to all! A great Pam Grier blaxploitation, with strong violence, and sex. An' y'all niggaz believe, tha'n England they cut these niggaz'ver three muthafuckin' minutes?!!! Mothafucka...!

FRANKENSTEIN AND THE MONSTER FROM HELL/Frankenstein Ja Vampyyrin Kosto/FIx/uncut. Gory Hammer-horror. NOTE: The British cert.18-videoversion is cut 4 seconds (a shot of the asylum director's bloody throat is deleted, and an asylum inmate ripping the monster and eating a part of him is shortened), and the US version is also cut.

FRITZ THE CAT/Fritz - Kova Kolli/FIx/uncut. "We ain't rated 'X' for nuttin' !!!" The famous porn-cartoon, with the great title-character, who's a perfect role model for all the impressionable little kiddies.

FUNNY GAMES/FI/K16/uncut. Michael Haneke's great flick.

GONIN/FI/K18/uncut. What's this?! "Sonatine" has even more violence, and it's uncut with a K16-rating! Oh right, in this one, the violence starts almost right away!

THE GODFATHER/Kummisetä/FI/K16/uncut. Francis Ford Coppola's classic is violent (the "Bonnie and Clyde"-ish toll booth scene is a hoot), but also the definitive Mafia movie. And of course it features Marlon Brando's most divine performance todate (Start acting like a man!!!). NOTE: The Finnish video, and dvd (ws) are uncut.

THE GODFATHER PART 2/Kummisetä 2/FI/K16/uncut. Maybe not as violent as the first, this ok sequel had no VET problems, because if they would touch such a critically acclaimed, and awarded picture, people would start to think that censorship is a bad thing. Duh...!

THE GOODFELLAS/Mafiaveljet/FI/K16/uncut. Although this contains some scenes of pretty strong violence, eg Joe Pesci stabbing the man in the trunk, and the scene of Joe Pesci's brains being blown out, VET passed this uncut with a K16-rating.

GRADUATION DAY/Kuoleman Kilpajuoksu/FIx/uncut. A gory, violent slasher-flick, that somehow survived on video without cuts from the distributor.

THE HAND/Kuristava Kauhu/FIx/uncut. Lousy flick, which is Oliver Stone's first directorial attemps. Back then, it seems, he couldn't even direct his own bodily functions in the toilet. When the video act came back in '88, and VET browsed all the FIx-versions on the market, and rated them a-ok, or stamped them with a K18-rating (which meant theatrical presentation was only legal), or just banned them, this got an K18-rating. And just because of one gruesome scene!

HARDWARE/Mark 13 - Tarkoitettu Tappamaan/FI/K16/uncut. Suprisingly uncut, and even more suprisingly, when being released by Showtime, the label notorious for censoring everything just for the heck of it. The tape is even mildly letterboxed! NOTE: The US version is heavily cut from some strong violence and sexual content to avoid an 'X' rating. There's some reports about the UK videoversion certified '18' being cut. The German Red Edition widescreen dvd (which contains an English-language soundtrack) is uncut.

HATED: GG ALLIN & THE MURDER JUNKIES/FI/uncut. A limited edition of this great documentary was released unrated, and uncut. NOTE: The British cert.18-videoversion is cut 38 seconds; 1.Someone injecting a carrot to GG Allin's ass, and eating it. 2.A photo of someone giving GG Allin a blow-job. 3.A woman pissing in GG Allin's mouth. 4.GG Allin shitting during a performance.

HELLBOUND: HELLRAISER 2/FI/K18/uncut. The full, uncut, unrated version of this short-on-plot, but rich-in-extreme-gore sequel was released on video, and dvd (both unfortunately 4:3 pan & scan) in Finland with a K18-rating. NOTE: The US R-rated cut is hacked 2 minutes and 41 seconds (which includes pretty much all the strong gore), and the British cert.18-videoversion is the R-rated cut with 7 seconds of additional BBFC cuts! The Netherlands videoversion released by Cosmos is othwerwise fully uncut, but is misses the movie's intro (this is probably not an any kind of censorship cut, but more on the print error side).

HELL NIGHT/Helvetin Yö/FIx/uncut. Even the British cert.18-videoversion of this ok Linda Blair slasher is trimmed for gore (cut a single second, presumably from the climax), but not the FIx-version! NOTE: The Finnish theatrical version was rated K18, and it had been cut from the gore.

HELL UP IN HARLEM/Verinen Harlem/FIx/uncut. Excessively violent, completely wacked-out camp sequel to the serious "Black Caesar", starring the meanest bad-ass mutha himself, Fred "baaad mothafucka" Williamson!

THE HITCHER/Liftari/FIx/uncut. NOTE: The Finnish dvd-version (2.35:1 widescreen, with a K18-rating) is also uncut.

HITCH-HIKE/FIx/uncut. An exploitation fare form the good old days, completely uncut, and widescreen. NOTE: The Australian video is not cut by any official censor, but contains a softer rape scene (with flames covering much of the action), the second highway patrol cop getting shot in the head is deleted, and the ending is a completely different (happy) one. The US and UK Anchor Bay dvds are uncut and widescreen.

HOUSE ON THE EDGE OF THE PARK/Talo Puiston Laidalla/FIx/uncut! An acclaimed "Last House On The Left" rip-off by Ruggero Deodato. There is two FIx-versions released, which both have the Finnish title "Talo Puiston Laidalla", and both are fully uncut and widescreen. NOTE: This groovy movie's 2002 UK release (cert.18!) has been cut 11 minutes and 43 seconds (yes, ELEVEN minutes!) from "several sequences of sexual violence, humiliating depictions of female nudity, and gross violence" (it was previously banned, and a part of the famous "video-nasty" flicks)!!! The cuts are as follows: *Alex ripping off the woman's shirt, exposing her breast. *Alex tripping the woman's trousers, exposing pubic hair, and then starting to rape her while strangling, is practically completely cut out. *Alex lowering a woman's dress at the card table, revealing her breasts. Alex then instigates his friend to freely pick one, and his friend starts browsing the yuppies, finally "choosing" Gloria, and starts to harass her. Alex urges him Fuck her here. All of this is removed! *Alex holding a razor towards the topless woman, while Alex's friend exposes Gloria's breast, and starts to lick it. *Alex's friend ripping Gloria's panties off, revealing pubic hair, while the laughing Alex continues holding the razor over the topless woman, is completely excised. *Alex's friend fondling Gloria's legs while Alex holds her down is completely deleted (!). *All of Alex's friend kissing and fondling the frightened Gloria is cut out! *All of Alex again doing the deed of lowering the woman's dress and revealing her breasts, and this time squeezing them, is deleted. *All sights of Alex bashing Tom's head to a table with bloody results is removed (this must be the "gross violence" that the BBFC referred to!). *All of Lisa undressing, Alex then carrying her on the bed, and having sex with her have been cut out. *The shot of Lisa moving away from Alex on the bed, and saying It was disgusting is deleted. *All sights of Alex slicing off Cindy's shirt are cut out. *Sights of the razor on Cindy's lips, near her face, and on her throat have been eliminated. *All sights of the razor moving on Cindy's body, and on her breasts, and near her belt, have been removed. *All of the sights of Cindy undressing, and then Alex touching her panties, are deleted. *All sights of Alex fondling and taunting Cindy, plus taking off Cindy's panties, and the frightened Cindy running under the sheets, have been removed. *Alex's friend bragging to Alex (who is standing with the naked Cindy) how he Did it has been removed. *All sights of Alex threatening Cindy with a razor, then pushing her on the bed and slashing her body, breasts, and legs have been completely cut out.

IDIOTERNE/Idiootit/FI/K16/uncut. Even though the film has hard-core sexual footage, it went through VET uncut with a K16-rating. NOTE: The UK video and matted 1.66:1 widescreen (the original aspect ratio is 4:3) dvd (both certified '18') are suprisingly uncut. The Australian videoversion is cut 8 seconds to remove all hard-core. The US version (titled "The Idiots") is rated 'R' and has black bars censoring the hard-core sexuality. The Taiwan dvd is cut from the you-know-what scene.

IDLE HANDS/Levottomat Kädet/FI/K16/uncut. I don't care, what the critics say, but this movie is pretty enjoyable. Was first given a K18-rating by VET, not because of the film's gore, but because the main characters (who you are suppose to identify with!) only smoke pot, and don't respect authorities. It also features the foxy Jessica Alba, yummy! An appeal from the distributor went through, and the rating dropped to K16. Both the videoversion, and the dvd, are uncut.

INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM/Indiana Jones Ja Tuomion Temppeli/FI/K14/uncut. This gory matinee-adventurer prequel features better stunts than the first part, but the events, dialogue, and the mood is very dull, and oh boy, that so-called leading lady is annoying! The Finnish video and theatrical version, plus the anamorphic widescreen dvd feature the infamous sacrifice scene intact. NOTE: The BBFC demanded cuts totalling 1 minute and 6 seconds (!) for the British version to receive the 'PG' certificate - 1.In the sacrifice scene, a beating heart being ripped out from the chest, and the shot of the wound healing. 2.The sacrifice scene has the sequence where the victim is lowered into a fire heavily trimmed and slightly re-edited (the UK version also features a less than "terrifying" musical score on this particular sequence). 3.The Kid burning guards' stomach with a torch has been deleted. 4.Indiana Jones' (Harrison Ford) line Leave him alone, you bastards is shortened to Leave him alone (this originally was placed in the scene, where The Kid is about to be whipped by the goons). The MPAA actually rated this movie 'PG' without a single cut (hey, if you're Spielberg...), which stirred huge controversy; this was a huge instigator for the creation of the 'PG-13' rating.

I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE/Koston Enkeli/FIx/uncut! I never saw this exploitation classic as a good film, just an ok "Last House On The Left" rip-off, but it seems to have its fans. Even though this film has lots of splatter, and an extremely graphic rape sequence (which lasts over a half an hour!), the distributor didn't made cuts at all, which makes this an extremely wanted tape in the collector's circle. NOTE: Previously completely banned in the holier-than-thou UK, the British widescreen cert.18-version (released in 2001) is cut 7 minutes and 2 seconds from the rape, and "humiliating female nudity". The 2003 UK re-issue (the HardGore special edition, anamorphic widescreen and certified '18') is a version pre-censored by the distributor in the lines of the BBFC-approved version, but now instead of straight cutting, most of the censorings are made in a much smoother way, e.g. via reframing and slow-motions, and substitutions. Even though these substitutions were made extensively, the "reduced" version of the anal rape against a rock was still too strong, so the BBFC demanded cuts to this revised and censored version, as follows: "To obtain this category cuts of 0m 41s were required. The cuts were Compulsory. Cut was required to remove images of a woman being raped over a rock, in accordance with the BBFC's Sexual Violence Policy". The distributor comments: "Using scene reframing to push a few of the most violent scenes out of vision on the new master (which shows far more detail than the first edition master) we were able to retain the integrity of the Meir Zarchi's masterpiece with nearly 50 % less cuts. The Special Edition, (taking into account the different telecine speeds of the two editions) contains aproximately 2 minutes and thirty seconds unique footage than the first edition. The modern BBFC agreed to include the legal limit of violence". The stills gallery on the dvd extras contain stills from the censored scenes. The American version rated 'R' has been cut a little over 4 minutes from the rape and some bloody violence.

THE KENTUCKY FRIED MOVIE/Hei, Me Nauretaan/FIx/uncut. The pretty hilarious ZAZ-spoof about movies, and television. NOTE: The British cert.18-videoversion (!) has been cut 10 seconds from the lenghty Bruce Lee / Enter The Dragon - spoof. The cut occurs when the hero is fighting the baddies in the sub-floor, and an elevator door opens, where a baddie twirling two nunchucks jumps out (all the nunchuck-material removed). The Swedish video is extremely heavily toned down by the censors, and it is missing huge chunks of martial arts action from the Bruce Lee spoof. The Finnish dvd-version rated K16 is uncut, but unfortunately pan & scan full screen (the re-issue [rated K15] however contains both the anamorphic widescreen [1.85:1], and the p & s full screen versions). The US dvd (from Anchor Bay) is widescreen, and features good extras.

KIDS/Tämän Päivän Lapsia/FI/K16/uncut. Controversial drama with a script by "the rising new talent" Harmony Korine. NOTE: The British cert.18-video- and dvd-versions have been cut 59 seconds from the last fuck of the movie - it removes all shots of sleeping minors surrounding the fucking teen.

KING OF THE STREETS/Katujen Kuningas/FIx/uncut. This hilariously awful, but somewhat violent turkey somehow passed uncut from the censor of the notorious Video Express Scandinavia, a label infamous for releasing great movies in unwatchable hacked versions. NOTE: The British cert.18-videoversion is cut 3 minutes and 16 seconds!!

LA FEMME NIKITA/Tyttö Nimeltä Nikita/FI/K16/uncut. Luc Besson's masterpiece (the restaurant shootout is a personal favourite) went through VET with no problemo, with the violence fully intact. NOTE: The Finnish dvd is anamorphic 2.35:1 widescreen, uncut, and rated K15.

THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS/Viimeinen Mohikaani/FI/K14/uncut. 1992 version by Michael Mann. Just check out VET's rating - this was even rated 'R' in the States, due to its suprisingly bloody violence. The Finnish ws dvd (the 'Director's Cut' version of the film - which actually contains a little less violence than the standard version!) also passed uncut.

LAST TANGO IN PARIS/Viimeinen Tango Pariisissa/FIx/uncut. The notorious title from director Bernardo Bertolucci. Although the movie is pretty good, and it even stars the God himself (Marlon Brando), but seriously even though the movie's reputation, if you're just looking for graphic sexuality, this is not the movie for you. NOTE: The US R-rated version is cut and censored by 4 minutes (at least the scene of anal sex is censored) - the US version rated 'NC-17' (at least available as a widescreen MGM dvd) is uncut.

THE LORD OF ILLUSIONS/FI/K16/uncut. The version of this so-so film released on video and widescreen dvd in Finland, is the full director's cut. NOTE: For some reason, the MPAA hacked this soft film to archieve an R-rating, including about ten cuts to soft violence, and so-called shocking images. The exorcism flashback also has the color of the blood muffled, so it wouldn't be so red. It is also missing over 10 minutes of narrative scenes deleted courtesy of preview audience critique. Clive Barker himself said, that the MPAA wanted even more stuff cut (like a knife being held at a throat, ooo-weee!), but Barker pursued them to leave the stuff intact.

MAD MAX/FIx/uncut. Not cut, but this is a dubbed version, which has the original Australian-English language altered to normal yankee English. NOTE: The British cert.18-videoversion is cut 48 seconds from the hacking of the young couple's car (the UK re-release [widescreen] is uncut).

MAN BITES DOG/Ammatti: Tappaja/FIc/K18/uncut. This extremely graphic cinema-verit , about a mass murderer killing pretty much everyone on sight, passed uncut with a K18-rating for theatrical presentation. NOTE: The British cert.18-videoversion is suprisingly uncut. There are two US versions, one rated 'NC-17', and the other unrated. And maybe a little oddly, the unrated version has been cut: a brief shot of a victim being suffocated with a plastic bag is deleted, the entire scene where Ben and the camera crew hunt down and kill a little kid has been removed, and the scene where Ben and the camera crew break into the house, and rape the woman inside, has been almost completely deleted. The Australian R+18 version is heavily censored from the rape, cutting it away almost fully.

MAN FROM THE DEEP RIVER/Mies Syvästä Joesta/FIx/uncut. This one of the first Italo cannibal movies, isn't actually a gore feast, but it has some splattering (several tongue-slicings, bloody cannibalism, and killing of animals). NOTE: This movie was submitted to VET in the late 80's for a Finnish video release, but VET gave it a K18-rating (so it was banned from video at the time), and cuts were required (at least to the cannibal scene) for a K16-rating, which the distributor didn't gave into, and dropped out. The UK release (titled "Deep River Savages", widescreen, certified '18') is cut 3 minutes and 45 seconds (!). The BBFC comments: "To obtain this category cuts of 3m 45s were required., some or all of these cuts were substitutions. The cuts were Compulsory. Cuts required to remove sight of real animal cruelty (in this case setting a mongoose on a snake; locking a monkey into a vice and slicing off the top of its head; a cock fight; cutting a snake and bleeding it alive; and stabbing a crocodile in its neck with a small knife) in accordance with the terms of the Cinematograph Films (Animals) Act 1937 and BBFC Policy". The Australian videoversion released in the 80's is heavily cut.

MEET THE FEEBLES/FI/K16/uncut. Gory, and perversely funny Peter Jackson's muppet show. The Finnish dvd-version (with a full screen 4:3 image) is also uncut, and rated K15.

MILLER'S CROSSING/Miller's Crossing - Vaarallista Peliä/FI/K16/uncut. Even this passable bloody, and violent Coen Brothers film went out when censorship was in its "highlights", going to the theaters, and on video with a K16-rating.

MONDO CANE/Tämä On Maailma/FIx/uncut. This famous banned-in-the-UK groundbreaker for shockumentaries (a.k.a. "Mondo" films) was released uncut by the distributor.

MUTE WITNESS/Mykkä Todistaja/FI/K16/uncut. The dull movie involving "snuff" mythology. Well, at least it contains one good scene. NOTE: The UK version was first cut for cinema, and a further 7 seconds for video as follows (the cuts are, of course, to the "snuff" murder): a rear shot of the couple having sex is deleted - a bloody shot of the stabbing is removed.

NEAR DARK/Pimeyden Läheisyys/FIx/uncut. An enjoyable vampire-road-movie, with gobs of gore. NOTE: The British cert.18-videoversion has been cut 14 seconds: Diamondback twiling a butterfly knife in the bar twirls no more, and the scene, where the vampires burn down a building with Molotov cocktails, has been shortened. The Swedish videoversion had (for some reason, this movie is really not THAT violent) the incredible fury of the Swedish censors; the videoversion has the most mildest violence hacked out, and complete scenes, and even references (!!) to the violent activities have been cut; the cuts total 8 minutes and 54 seconds!!!

THE NEW GAME OF DEATH/Kuoleman Peli/FIx/uncut. Leexploitation-flick with a heckuva lot of nunchuck-scenes (that's why the British cert.18-videoversion is hacked almost SIX minutes!), a great title song, and big camp-values.

NIGHTMARE/FIx/uncut! If you have two choices; have incredible sex, or get this for free, choose this one! Banned in its uncut form in about every country possible, where they have such disgusting thing as censorship. Just love the incredibly gory butchering in the bed! Axe flies, and blood plasma flows! NOTE: The US version rated 'R' has been cut approximately 50 seconds as follows (the British cert.18-version titled "Nightmares In A Damaged Brain" is identical to this): *The opening scene has lost a shot of the guts on the bed. *Tatum's flashback has shots of a decapitated body spurting blood replaced with the decapitated head falling on the tied-up man. *The flashback in the peep show has been replaced from a shot of the decapitated body to the boy swinging the axe. *Woman's throat being slit is cut out. *Tatum holding the woman from her mouth is deleted. *Blood spurting from the woman's wound is no more. *Three stabbings to the woman's stomach is deleted. *Tatum licking his bloodied fingers is cut (!). *Hammering to the back is cut 9 seconds. *Tatum getting shot is briefly cut. The finale is cut as follows - *Blood spurting from the decapitated body is substituted with a shot of the tied-up man. *The severed head swingin' to the floor is briefly cut. *An axing to the back is cut. *Shot of the boy swinging the axe down is missing. *The axe smashing to the tied-up man's head is missing, and is substituted with blood spurting on the lamp. *The tied-up man's head spurting blood is missing. The UK video released prior to the British video act is not uncut, though it is about 60 seconds longer than the old British BBFC-approved cinema version (which was cut about a minute and a half, e.g. blood flowing from the axed woman's back, and the decapitated body spurting blood). The Australian videoversion titled "Schizo" is heavily cut.

NINE DEATHS OF THE NINJA/Deadly Warrior/FIx/uncut. The British cert.18-videoversion of this Sho Kosugi's not-too-great vehicle, is cut almost SIX minutes, but this is the full uncut version. It also includes an amazingly hilarious James Bond-ish title sequence! The Finnish dvd (rated K15) is also uncut, plus anamorphic widescreen. The German dvd is uncut, anamorphic widescreen (2.35:1), and contains an English soundtrack. Beware the US dvd, which is uncut, but the image is pan & scan full screen 4:3.

ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA/Suuri Gansterisota/FIx/uncut. Sergio Leone's great epic has been released in Finland in the complete uncut version, the box containing two cassettes! NOTE: The Finnish dvd (anamorphic widescreen, with two discs, rated K15) is also uncut. The US version is cut about 90 minutes (!!), and the cuts make the plot a little difficult to follow (the characters disappear, and their motives don't make any kind of sense, and worst of all, the events are shown in chronological order!!). All the MPAA-approved US versions are also cut as follows to archieve an R-rating - *The opening murder is shorter, missing Eve suffering, and being shot the second time. *The beating of Fat Moe is trimmed. *The rape of Deborah is heavily cut. There are also reports of the heist rape being shortened. The British cert.18-videoversion is cut 10 seconds (the cuts are to usual BBFC mumbo jumbo, that is, a gun being pressed at a woman's breats [in the beginning of the film], and underwear being ripped off in Deborah's rape).

PAYBACK/Verivelka/FI/K16/uncut. Tony Hickox's pretty erotic 1994 straight-to-video thriller had pretty hard times with the MPAA, which cut a lot of the more explicit sex to avoid an NC-17 rating. The Finnish videoversion is the complete uncut one, with a lot of stuff for all the jerk-offers in the audience to enjoy.

PRIME CUT/Lihakirves/FIx/uncut.

RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK/Kadonneen Arteen Metsästäjät/FI/K16/uncut. This first and (as everybody agrees) the best Indiana Jones movie has some gore and violence (only Spielberg could get shit like this through the MPAA with a 'PG' rating!), though the K16-rating from VET is a little high up. The climatic meltings are a particular favourite. NOTE: The Finnish dvd is also uncut, plus it is anamorphic widescreen. The Swedish video has been CUT 1 minute and 9 seconds (e.g. from the climatic meltings).

RANSOM/Ransom - Lunnaat/FI/K14/uncut. A good film by Ron Howard (what are the odds!). Just look at the rating, whoa! This is '18' in the UK, and even the US version is rated 'R' for "graphic bloody violence and strong language"!

RAWHEAD REX/Raakalainen/FI/K16/uncut. Watchable movie with a giant monster, and lots of gore, and splatter butchery! Severed heads fly more than once, and the scene of the priest getting his throat bite open is a pure reminisce of "Shogun Assassin", and that should tell you something.

THE RED NIGHTS OF THE GESTAPO/Gestapon Veriset Yöt/FIx/uncut. An Italian Nazi Camp movie. Released in two different covers, one with no Finnish title, and the other with the title "Gestapon Veriset Yöt". NOTE: The Australian videoversion is cut numerous minutes for "frequent, high, gratuitous sex and violence, sado-masochism and child abuse".

REQUIEM FOR A DREAM/Unelmien Sielunmessu/FI/K15/uncut. Darren Aronofsky's icky drama was submitted to the MPAA, and it got an NC-17 rating, so the distributor released the film without an MPAA rating. All the Finnish versions are fully uncut. NOTE: The US version with an R-rating (an unrated, uncut version is also available) is cut from explicit nudity - especially the party scene has suffered heavy cuts, usage of a dildo is no more, and shots of two asses slapping together in the party have been reduced by using different tamer camera-angles. The director has (rightly so) disowned this version of the film.

RITUALS/Joki Ilman Paluuta/FIx/uncut. This very much underrated, chillingly fine "Deliverance" rip-off went through the distributor without any cuts. NOTE: The American version has been cut to archieve an R-rating as follows: 1.The shot of the severed head on a stick is censored, and cropped. 2.The burning has been shortened, and reduced from the screaming. 3.Harry (Hal Holbrook) trying to stop the bleeding is shortened by few seconds. 4.The killer's death has been shortened from the gunshots.

ROMANCE/Romance X/FI/K16/uncut. Controversial French movie, which even includes some hard sex. This was rated K18 in Finnish theatres, but the distributor did an appeal (that went through), and the film was released on video uncut, and with a K16-rating. NOTE: The British cert.18-video (and dvd) version is cut 1 second (a penis cumming, too much for the UK folks). The US R-rated version has very extensive cuts to sexual scenes.

RUNNING MAN/FI/K16/uncut. Pretty violent Schwarzenegger-flick strangely had no problems for VET, because it went uncut with a K16-rating to cinema, video, and dvd with no hassle.

SAKURA KILLERS/FI/K16/uncut. A completely dumb, and stupid ninja-flick, with lousy (but sometimes surrealistically impressive) choreography, and Oriental actors, who mumble their English dialogue completely wrong, misprouncing, and not even knowing what the hell they're saying! NOTE: The British cert.18-videoversion is cut 40 seconds - every last shot of shirukens (ninja-stars), and the presentation of shirukens by the old ninja master, have been cut out.

SALÓ/Sodoman 120 Päivää/FI/K18/uncut! After being totally banned for god-only-knows-how-long, this excellent cult classic came into Finnish theatres totally uncut, and then with some years of waiting, onto dvd (presented in 1.66:1 widescreen). NOTE: The Swedish videoversion (English-dubbed, pan & scan 4:3 full screen) is uncut, and so is the 18-rated UK widescreen dvd-version (it was previously banned for decades), which also contains the original soundtrack, with English subtitles. The Netherlands' videoversion is suprisingly cut - at least some of the whipping is missing. The out-of-print Criterion widescreen dvd is actually not uncut, because it's missing a poem being recited at the first wedding (this cut totals to approx. 25 seconds).

SCANNERS 3: THE TAKEOVER/Scanners III: Mielen Valloitus/FI/K16/uncut. This third Scanners-movie is just about as violent as its predecessors, with an head-explosion, which is undoubtedly one of the best in the whole series. The Finnish dvd is also uncut.

SEUL CONTRE TOUS/Yksin Kaikkia Vastaan/FI/K18/uncut. Excellent nihilism flick by the genius director Gaspar Noé. The Finnish videoversion is uncensored, uncut, and presented in 2.66:1 CinemaScope widescreen (the Finnish theatrical version is also uncut, and rated K18). NOTE: The UK 18-rated videoversion (titled "I Stand Alone") has two shots of hard-core porn totalling 50 seconds optically blurred (a'la "Urotsukidoji"!) in the scene where The Butcher watches a porn-flick in a movie theatre; the UK cinema-version had the exact same censoring also. The Japanese version (including the Japanese dvd) are reported to have been optically censored for all groin nudity (including the scene with the porn-flick in the movie theatre).

SGT. KABUKIMAN N.Y.P.D./FI/K12/uncut. Funny Troma movie with gore, comic violence, nudity, and naughty language, but VET got the joke, so this was passed uncut with a K12-rating! NOTE: The Finnish video re-release is rated K11, and also uncut. The British cert.18-videoversion (!) is cut 10 seconds! The cuts are presumably to martial arts weaponry. Also beware of the US version, that's rated PG-13, 'cause it's extremely heavily cut (the unrated director's cut is complete).

THE SHINING/Hohto/FI/K16/uncut. First this masterpiece got a K18-rating from VET back in '88, and it was therefore banned from video. But just a few years later, it came on video uncut, and with a K16-rating! You gotta wonder the original decision of VET, 'cause this has almost no violence at all, and just very little gore, but the "terror" lies more in style, horror, ambience, the acting (Jack Nicholson in his best role todate!), and the music. That's why this is (at least in my opinion) the best horror movie ever made! NOTE: The FIx-version is the longer US version of the film. The FI-versions are standard versions, which lose about 20 minutes worth of non-violent scenes - this version was distributed in large parts over the world with the exception of America. I personally recommend the standard shorter version, because the cuts (originally made by director Kubrick himself) actually improve the film very much (the actual scenes/snippets that are cut are completely unnecessary overall, and even annoying at times!).

SHOGUN ASSASSIN/FIx/uncut! On widescreen, and uncut! The FIx tape of this masterpiece is one of the most rarest (I've seen it just once), and in every living being's want-list priority, this classic was banned in the first wild days of vcrs. You cannot kill me, by my eternal vow I shall destroy you...!

SHOWGIRLS/FI/K16/uncut. The (in?)famous title by Paul Verhoeven, which suffered the MPAA's, and the BBFC's censorings, but VET passed the full uncut NC-17 rated version with a K16-rating. The version rated 'R' by the MPAA has 61 seconds cut (cuts including sex, rape, explicit stripping, and graphic language [especially by Robert Davi's character!]), and 20 seconds shown in alternative camera-angles, and the British cert.18-video- and dvd-version eliminate 22 seconds (13 sec for cinema, and a further 9 sec for video) from brief beating and the rape of the black girl. The Japanese versions (including the Japanese widescreen dvd) are optically censored from the showgirls' crotches via blurring.

SOLDIER BLUE/Verinen Sotilas/FIx/uncut. A famous "everbody's heard, but no one has seen" film, which includes an extremely gory, and graphic destruction of an Indian village (which was even too much for the BBFC, the British cert.18-videoversion has been cut 36 seconds for the Indian woman's rape). The FIx-version is uncut, but there are rumors that there are two FIx-versions, and the other being trimmed from the violence.

SONATINE/FI/K16/uncut. Great Takeshi Kitano's incredibly violent Yakuza-movie. VET probably passed it uncut, because they got bored, because the first 40 minutes has almost no violence at all. The last 30 are incredibly juicy bloodshed!

SOUTHERN COMFORT/Raivoisa Ajojahti/FIx/uncut. Very good disturbing "Deliverance" type action thriller from Walter Hill. Numerous reports of the FIx tape being cut are luckily false. NOTE: This was down for a video release in Finland in the late 80's, but VET demanded a heavy cuts list totalling 1 minute and 28 seconds to violence for the movie to gain a K16-rating (the distributor didn't gave in to the cuts, and the release was therefore dropped). The Finnish dvd-version released in 2001 from Future Film is uncut, widescreen, and rated K15.

STARSHIP TROOPERS/FI/K16/uncut. Gory, and visually delightful, ok Paul Verhoeven sci-fi actioner (the movie acclaimed to be an intelligent movie disguised as a dumb one, just like ATTIC is an intelligent web-site disguised as a dumb site... was it the other way around?), which had so strong violence, that for the film to have an R-rating in the US, 4 seconds were shaved from the decapitation.

STATE OF GRACE/Koston Hetki/FI/K16/uncut. A very violent crime-thriller about Irish mafia, even though it was released in the beginning of the 90's (still one of the "highlights" of VET censorship) it passed uncut with a K16-rating.

STORY OF THE JUNKIE/Narkkarin Tarina/FI/K16/uncut. Oh right, they trimmed the stylish drug-use of "Pulp Fiction" for a K16-rating, but this one has the exact same rating, and about a million scenes of extremely graphic (and bloody) scenes of heroin-injection.

SURF NAZIS MUST DIE/Natsi-surffaajien Täytyy Kuolla/FI/K12/uncut! This Troma-camp-rip-off-actioner contains strong gory violence, and bad language, but somehow it survived from VET uncut, and with a K12-rating (!!!). NOTE: The British cert.18-videoversion (!) is CUT 25 seconds - three scenes are shortened to remove all sights of nunchucks. The American video is cut for an R-rating.

TALES FROM THE CRYPT - DEMON KNIGHT/Pahan Lähettiläs/FIc/K18/uncut. This was uncut on Finnish theatres, containing all the gore (along with the legendary head-bash), and with a K18-rating. For some reason, the distributor didn't even try to get this on to video.

TALES FROM THE CRYPT - BORDELLO OF BLOOD/Verenhimoiset Viettelijättäret/FI/K16/uncut! This was uncut in Finnish theatres, with a K18-rating, but when this came on video, the distributor did an appeal, to get a K16-rating. And suprisingly, they got it! This is probably (or positively) one in the top 5 of the goriest films with a K16-rating.

TAXI DRIVER/Taksikuski/FI/K16/uncut. You all know this one. NOTE: The British cert.18-videoversion has been cut 1 second; the scene where the young Jodie Foster unzips Robert De Niro's fly, has lost the sound effect of the fly opening (!).

TERMINATOR 2: THE JUDGMENT DAY/Terminator 2 - Tuomion Päivä/FI/K16/uncut. Still gotta wonder a little bit, that this passed uncut with a K16-rating back in '91 (probably because of a great audience appeal), when e.g. "Passenger 57" was sentenced to a K18-rating, even though it doesn't have violence almost at all. NOTE: The English videoversion originally had to toned down 18 seconds (plus an unknown amount of cuts for UK cinema) for the '15' certificate as follows: *The biker falling on a sizzling stove, and screaming is missing. *The shot of a knife in a biker's back. *Sarah explicitly beats a guard with a broom four times; just once in the UK version. *After Sarah hits the doctor with a bat, her tripping him by hitting him in the leg is cut courtesy of the BBFC. *T-101 throwing a guard onto a wall when it rescues Sarah. *In the parking hall, T-101 smashing the driver guard's face to a poll is cut. *T-101 shooting the SWAT team members' legs has been reduced by few seconds. These cuts are in all of the UK videos (including the "T1000 Edition"). The British cert.18 laserdisc, and the 2001 cert.15 ultimate edition dvd are uncut, and widescreen.

TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE/Texasin Moottorisaha-murhaaja/FI/K18/uncut. After it was totally banned for about 20 years, it was finally given a K18-rating for cinema, and when the new video act came, for video and to matted widescreen dvd with nice extras. NOTE: The Swedish videoversion has been cut from the famous hooking scene.

TOKYO FIST/FI/K16/uncut! Extremely violent drama, which had a K18-rating by VET for its theatrical version, but the distributor did an appeal, and miraculously it was given a K16-rating for video! Bash bash!!!

TRAINSPOTTING/FI/K16/uncut. Critically acclaimed movie by "Britain's Tarantino" (yeah, right...) Danny Boyle. NOTE: The UK videoversions are cut 19 seconds from the heroin shooting-up (the latest UK dvd had the cuts waived). The US version has lots of dialogue dubbed to American-English accent, and cuts by the MPAA to archieve an R-rating (at least to the scene where Renton's balls are tickled). The Japanese version has 3 scenes censored optically from crotch nudity.

TROMEO & JULIET/FI/K16/uncut! Somehow this Troma-movie, which was cut over 10 minutes (!!) even in the US for an R-rating, survived uncut from VET with a K16-rating (and even with all of the MPAA cuts intact!).

TRUE LIES/Tosi Valheita/FI/K16/uncut. Ok, I get your point. This is not a film of explicit violence. It's one of the most tame Schwarzenegger flicks ever conceived (even though the Schwarz is trying to get his new "good guy" image!). But note, that this contains all the material, that's cut from the British cert.15-videoversion, which is all the juiciest parts; 1.In the toilet, Harry (the Schwarz) donating a head-butt to a terrorist thug. 2.In the toilet, Harry ear-clapping the terrorist thug. 3.The terrorist thug hitting his hand on a hand dryer Harry's holding is cut, plus Harry beating the terrorist thug with the hand dryer has been reduced from three times to one. 4.Harry crashing the terrorist thug's head to a toilet, along with the one-liner Here, cool off. 5.Harry imagining about punching Simon (Bill Paxton) hard in the nose. 6.In the torturer's hut, Harry throwing a Patterson Trokar into a guard's eye. 7.Harry snapping the torturer's neck. 8.Harry forcing a tyre iron into a guard's chest. 9.Harry sliding down with a rope, and breaking a guard's neck. The cuts' leght totals 11 seconds. The UK widescreen dvd (also certified '15') is as cut as the UK videoversion, but the company has substituted parts to make the cuts run more smoothly, thus making the cuts totalling up to 20 seconds!

THE UGLY/Ruma/FI/K16/uncut. A really graphically nasty, and surrealistically gory movie from Scott Reynolds. NOTE: The US version rated 'R' has been cut by the MPAA (the unrated version is uncut).

UNDER SIEGE 2/Kaappaus Raiteilla/FI/K16/uncut. Now, this is somewhat a miracle. This is just as gory, and violent as the previous Steven Seagal-flicks (all fingers of a thug being snapped simultaneously is a personal favourite), but VET didn't have any problem with this, so the videoversion, and the dvd-version (widescreen) are uncut. In the UK, the BBFC cut the British cert.18-videoversion 2 minutes and 1 second (!!), eliminating almost all violence, both mediocre, and strong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE UNSEEN/Näkymätön Voima/FIx/uncut. The title says it all, this movie's better to be left unseen. Just an horrible excuse of events, then just non-stop violence, and terror. No good visual expression, or even remotely interesting characters or themes. The distributor Media Home Video had a good eye for cool moviez, and they never pre-cut any of their releases. When I say that watching ten episodes of "Everybody Loves Raymond" beats this nice flick, you can guess how scarily lousy this "movie" is even in its uncut form! Or maybe those folks who like those nice "Guinea Pig" flicks will like this too, eh?

THE UNTOUCHABLES/Lahjomattomat/FI/K16/uncut. Extremely violent critically acclaimed movie by Brian De Palma. The scene where Sean Connery gets shot extremely graphically, shows that even The Untouchables aren't untouchable for firepower. The Finnish widescreen dvd is also uncut (also rated K16).

VAULT OF HORROR/Ääniä Haudasta/FIx/uncut. Fine early 1970's movie with good atmosphere and cast. Though not that violent, there have been a suprising amount of cut versions in circulation. NOTE: The UK dvd is uncut and certificed '18' (the movie itself has a '15' certificate from the BBFC, but the extras, including trailers, have been awarded with the higher certificate), and is "digitally remastered"; in reality VIPCO just took the same master they used for their video release, and digitally transferred it to the disc. The US version was first rated 'R', and then censored about 35 seconds to archieve the more tamer 'PG' rating as follows: "Midnight Mess": Rogers being drained by the tap has been replaced with a pretty faraway still of the first frame of the shot; in the uncensored version, the camera continues moving forward until it reaches close-up. "The Neat Job": When Eleanor hits Critchit with the hammer, the US version freezes to a still frame when the hammer is in mid-air; the uncensored version shows Critchit with the hammer in his head with bloody results, and then him falling down the stairs dead. "The Neat Job": The US version only shows the first two shelves of body parts, while the uncut version shows all four (including the eyes, the spine, and "odds and ends"). "Drawn And Quartered": The publisher getting his hands chopped off loses a shot of him looking at his bloody stumps, and screaming. The US video contains this cut version.

VIGILANTE/Kadun Soturit/FIx/uncut. A dark violent flick by William Lustig. The FIx-version is the completely uncut, unrated version. NOTE: The US version rated 'R' by the MPAA, has cuts as follows: the scene of Nick (Fred Williamson) shooting Mr T (Peter Savage) has lost one slow-motion gory shot of Mr T getting shotgun pellets to his chest, and the scene where the two cops are massacred in their patroller has been trimmed by few seconds. The US dvd is the unrated director's cut presented on widescreen, and with some extras.

VISITING HOURS/Kuolema Kierroksella/FIx/uncut. A graphic Canadian slasher, which suprisingly was left untouched by the distributor's scissors. NOTE: The British cert.18-videoversion is heavily cut.

WAX MASK/Vahanaamio/FI/K16/uncut. Sergio Stivalletti's debut with some scenes of graphic gore, fancy production design, a fistful of plot holes, and a "What the fuck?" ending. Extra minusses for the bad English-language dubbing, and those CGI effects, which look SO phony.

WICKED CITY/FI/K16/uncut. The good manga-anime was cut to pieces in the UK, while the Finnish videoversion is fully uncut. NOTE: The cuts in UK cert.18-videoversion total to 1 minute and 48 seconds and are applied as follows: 1.A panning shot of Jin having his hand on Maki's crotch is deleted. 2.Close-up of Maki's crotch with Jin's hand on it, along with the subsequent shot of Maki's hair grabbing Jin, which is cut for continuity. 3.The demon creature forcing its tongue to Maki's mouth, and then doing the "ol' inout inout". 4.The beginning of Maki's rape by the demons is short of a demon mauling on her breast, and the following brief rape shot. 5.The rest of Maki's rape is massively reduced and cut (over 20 seconds). This includes the demons mauling and her raping her. 6.Raping of Maki in the demon base has lost four close-ups - the demons squeezing her breasts, Maki getting raped from behind, a close of Maki's face, and of her chained hands.

THE WILD BUNCH/Hurja Joukko/FI/K16/uncut. Classic bloody western from Sam Peckinpah, which first got a K18-rating, but then the following year, VET regretted their hideous decision (a'la "Clockwork Orange"!), and this was unleashed on video. Note that this is the full director's cut (though unfortunately in pan & scan full screen). Both the Fix and FI tapes are uncut. NOTE: Some US prints on video and laser contain the original US theatrical version, which was chopped 10 minutes against the director's wishes; at least two flashback scenes almost critical to plot and character development were removed.

ZAZEL/FI/K16/uncut! Incredibly, in the 90's VET passed this porn with a K16-rating without a single cut, even though it contains definite hard-core! They probably thought (because of some weirdo imagery), that this is some highly artistic classy movie! NOTE: The UK videoversion (certified 'R18'!!!) is cut 1 minute and 21 seconds to remove an entire scene of "sexualised violence".
